I dunno, maybe I have been in isolation too long. To me, however, part of this pond reflection looks more like something from deep space astronomy rather that just the sun (small dark circle left of center) behind some clouds.
The little pond has an over-hanging deck. This makes it possible to shoot almost directly down into the water. Shooting from the deck is thus a poor man's alternative to owning a camera drone. BTW, I think that photos one takes with a drone are a special category of photography. It seems to me that drone photography, with its often striking results, is not really in-person photography.

Just a bit more of these...
Two days later - still didn't manage to clear the way to the back door. The warmth of the sun was beginning to compress the snow.
I was sad to have to clear away these lovely shapes and textures.

Taking an unexpected turn into "straight" photography where the 'effect' is seen by virtue of the radical PoV, point of view. There were NO special effects used to create this image. This is my first image sourced from an iPhone. Quite astonishingly I find those little trouble-makers to be amazingly good at some types of photography and I'll be showing a series of these as I play with the thing as a visual tool. .
The flesh of a planet, over its bones of stone, or under them, betray a liquid origin and a whisper of the shaping fires.

"Made in the Shade" is an old expression for saying that
something was easy to do, and/or went really well...
...and produced a good result. *
This piece of "abstract reality" actually took me quite a bit of effort:
cropping the image for composition, sliding a lot of sliders
for saturation, contrast and sharpness, and finally
running it through a AI pixel interpolation software to make it sharper at larger image sizes.
So...actually, it was not "made in the shade," but I like the result.
* Possibly from a (now politically incorrect) children's nonsense rhyme:
"ice-cold lemonade, made in the shade, stirred with a spade, by an old maid."😵💫

Found this reflection/architectural/abstract shot in my archive of stuff from past trips to Barcelona and thought it might be worth an airing.

A found patchwork abstract. Weathered paint and glue on a wall, created by a removed poster, resembles an aerial photo of fields.
This in-camera multi-exposure photograph was taken in May 2024 during my first visit to New York this century. I was last there 30 years ago. I had not been there before with my partner, Andy. May 2024 was the month of our 25th anniversary and this trip was our way to celebrate.

The Macro Mondays’ theme for 10/18 is smoke. Took more than 150, culled it down to 20 (see the screenshot), then further down to 6, but it’s midnight and I still haven’t chosen the one I’ll post. Some major dithering coming up.
Used a stick of incense— thank you, DD. If there is a ducky in the picture/background, it is a mini about an inch and a half tall.
