Seen from below, glass and sky merge into an almost weightless architecture. The crane house’s reflective façade throws back the image of its own forms, while the white fades outward like mist into nothingness.

Santiago Calatrava Valls brilliant design of scale, size, and optical illusion on the confines where 4 streets meet designed a single, solitary building within the overall context of its surroundings. Next to the foot print fountains, PA did good allowing this master make a fitting masterpiece.

Between steel and glass, the staircase rises like a sculptural vein at the heart of the crane house. The protruding structures catch the light, turning the architecture into something almost abstract – an urban geometry revealed only at second glance.

Drawbridge Ice Cream, a popular tourist spot!
Historically, Mystic was a significant Connecticut seaport with more than 600 ships built over 135 years starting in 1784. The story of Mystic's nautical connection is told at Mystic Seaport, among the nation's largest maritime museums which has preserved a number of sailing ships, most notably the whaling ship Charles W. Morgan. The village is located on the Mystic River, which flows into Fishers Island Sound and by extension Long Island Sound and the Atlantic Ocean. The Mystic River Bascule Bridge crosses the river in the center of the village. The name "Mystic" is derived from the Pequot term "missi-tuk" describing a large river whose waters are driven into waves by tides or wind, according to a history cited by The Mystic River Historical Society.
Architecture in London: One London Bridge
A very interesting building to look at but one that I find very difficult to photograph. It's quite hemmed in, angles are therefore tight, the pavement is also almost always busy as are the bus stops that have been (in)conveniently placed opposite and adjacent to the building and road. Still there you have it. And this is my latest take when it was getting much to late to photograph the building and the best light had faded. Voila!
Thanks for all views, comments and favs. They are always much appreciated.
