The power of the wind

2009

Acrylic on stretched canvas

20x30"

This green abstract image is a tropical tree detail I shot in Santos, São Paulo State, Brazil.

Okay, so I was playing around with the zoom as I took some of the waterfall photos, and I thought this one came out rather cool...or maybe it's just me :)! Anyway, this is an abstract of Elowah Falls at the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon.

Wind chimes in gift shop window aboard Cape May --- Lewes Ferry on Delaware Bay.

Apologies for not keeping up with everyone's uploads, but I'm busy being on holiday :D

The way the evening light brought out the shape of the rocks at Mosquito Beach. This rock was sandstone.

Look carefully at the section of rock forming a dark vertical line about 1/3 of the way from the right side of the photo. It is very wavy compared to the other rock. I noticed that it looked like the same shape the underwater sand takes at the Sleeping Bear Dunes. Later I read that this pattern was actually formed by sand that was once an ocean bed. It was covered by the other layers of sandstone, but eventually it was exposed as the upper layers broke away.

Green Cay wetlands, palm beach county, florida

reflections of the boardwalk overlying the lake, not blue, but i thought it was pretty cool :-)

.... another picture that I was captivated with when I saw it down the microscope. It's a squash of a minute sample of tissue from a fungus. I think this image shows a conidium, bearing conidiospores. (These are asexual structures present on some fungi.)

To avoid confusion with some group invitations, all of my images are created from blank. Any image from a photo is clearly marked as such.

Intermezzo: Coastlive Farms heirloom tomato, purple yam, miso

Whenever I am frustrated I would tell myself "I can do better."
