My back hurts when I think of this picture... While walking down this dip in the forest around Tarn Hows, I accidentally stepped on a wet root. My shoes had no grip on it and so I tumbled big time. In the moment of falling, I was like "Damn... the camera.... Damn²... the Zeiss!" and raised my arm. Camera and lens didn't touch the ground, my body did... with no absorption. Must have been a sight for the gods...

Did you ever destroy some equipment this way? ;)

You can tell there’s steep terrain right off the coast, as the light takes sinuous roads up the mountains and hills close to Beirut. As always, life gathers close to coasts ad rivers. Cities seen from space are either grey at day or lit up at night. 55% of the world's population now live in urban areas, but there is no reason why they could not be green! Trees, plants and agriculture can co-exist in cities, on rooftops or in the streets. Often I focus my lens on nature because it is more striking, but cities should not break with the surrounding countryside. The @FAO launched the #GreenCities initiative to encourage large cities to become more sustainable and resilient, and better places to live. It’s all about turning the problem around and making it part of the solution. #WorldPopulationDay LINK

Walker Lake is a natural lake, in the Great Basin in western Nevada in the United States. It is 11 mi (17 km) long and 5 mi (8 km) wide, in northwestern Mineral County along the east side of the Wassuk Range, about 75 mi (120 km) southeast of Reno. The lake is fed from the north by the Walker River and has no natural outlet except absorption and evaporation.

Astronomers have taken an inventory of the most deeply embedded ices in a cold molecular cloud to date. They used light from a background star, named NIR38, to illuminate the dark cloud called Chameleon I. Ices within the cloud absorbed certain wavelengths of infrared light, leaving spectral fingerprints called absorption lines. These lines indicate which substances are present within the molecular cloud.

These graphs show spectral data from three of the James Webb Space Telescope’s instruments. In addition to simple ices like water, the science team was able to identify frozen forms of a wide range of molecules, from carbon dioxide, ammonia, and methane, to the simplest complex organic molecule, methanol.

In addition to the identified molecules, the team found evidence for prebiotic molecules more complex than methanol (indicated in the lower-right panel). Although they didn't definitively attribute these signals to specific molecules, this proves for the first time that complex molecules form in the icy depths of molecular clouds before stars are born.

The upper panels and lower-left panel all show the background star’s brightness versus wavelength. A lower brightness indicates absorption by ices and other materials in the molecular cloud. The lower-right panel displays the optical depth, which is essentially a logarithmic measure of how much light from the background star gets absorbed by the ices in the cloud. It is used to highlight weaker spectral features of less abundant varieties of ice.

Mainline 803 is an unusual Neoplan N416 integral single decker which had been assembled in Hellaby by importers Carlton PSV in 1988 and operated in the associated SUT fleet in Sheffield.

Following the absorption of the SUT fleet into Mainline it became fleet no 803 and was later transferred to Doncaster. It is seen on Askern Road in Bentley.

The waning last quarter Moon rises in conjunction with the Pleiades star cluster, here coming out of a band of clouds just above the northeast horizon, with the Moon just a degree or two above the horizon.

This was the evening of August 25, 2024. Earthshine is just visible on the "dark side of the Moon." And yes, the sky really was that colour, as this was so low with the field lit by moonlight reddened by atmospheric absorption.

Technical:

This is a blend of 8 exposures taken in quick succession, from 30 seconds for the stars and base sky, to as short as 1/8-second for the lunar disk, blended with Lights1 luminosity masks created with Lumenzia extension panel in Photoshop. The exposure blending results in an image that better resembles what the eye could see in the scene with such a high dynamic range in brightness.

The Canon R5 was at ISO 1600 and on the Astro-Tech 90CFT refractor telescope at f/4.8 for a focal length of 430mm. It was on the Astro-Physics Mach1 mount tracking the sky at the sidereal rate. Thus the blurred clouds. Finishing touch glows and Orton-style effects added with Luminar Neo and Nik Color EFX.

There is an intriguing surface unit in parts of the ancient Martian highlands that may consist of chloride salts (like NaCl, or table salt) which precipitated out of shallow lakes as in desert regions of Earth.

It has unusual thermal properties and distinctive morphologies, but lacks spectral absorption bands. All of these characteristics and the geologic settings are consistent with salt deposits. These deposits are often associated with clay minerals that do have distinctive absorption bands.

The Full Moon of June 24, 2021, colloquially called the "Strawberry Moon," just rising over the distant hill at McGregor Lake in southern Alberta. The disk of the Moon is flattened by atmospheric refraction and tinted golden from atmospheric absorption, as is the case for all rising and setting Moons, and Suns.

This is an exposure blend of two images: a long one for the sky and water, and a shorter one for the disk of the Moon, to prevent it from being overexposed. This was with the Canon EOS Ra and 200mm L lens and 1.4x Extender for 280mm focal length.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Chance Nkosi Gomez known initiated by H.H Swami Jyotirmayanda as Sri Govinda walks an integral yogic path in which photography is the primary creative field of expression. The medium was introduced during sophomore year of high school by educator Dr. Devin Marsh of Robert Morgan Educational Center. Coming into alignment with light, its nature and articulating the camera was the focus during that time. Thereafter while completing a Photographic Technology Degree, the realization of what made an image “striking” came to the foreground of the inner dialogue. These college years brought forth major absorption and reflection as an apprentice to photographer and educator Tony A. Chirinos of Miami Dade College. The process of working towards a singular idea of interest and thus building a series became the heading from here on while the camera aided in cultivating an adherence to the present moment. The viewfinder resembles a doorway to the unified field of consciousness in which line, shape, form, color, value, texture all dissolve. It is here that the yogi is reminded of sat-chit-ananda (the supreme reality as all-pervading; pure consciousness). As of May 2024 Govinda has completed his 300hr yoga teacher training program at Sattva Yoga Academy studying from Master Yogi Anand Mehrotra in Rishikesh, India, Himalayas. This has strengthened his personal Sadhana and allows one to carry and share ancient Vedic Technology leading others in ultimately directing their intellect to bloom into intuition. As awareness and self-realization grows so does the imagery that is all at once divine in the mastery of capturing and controlling light. Over the last seven years he has self-published six photographic books, Follow me i’ll be right behind you (2017), Sonata - Minimal Study (2018), Birds Singing Lies (2018), Rwanda (2019), Where does the body begin? (2019) & Swayam Jyotis (2023). Currently, Govinda is employed at the Leica Store Miami as a camera specialist and starting his journey as a practitioner of yoga ॐ

Alter Ego: Despair

Name: Aileen Hammer

Allegiance: Villain

Powers:

* Can generate and absorb high amounts of energy and expel it through powerful energy beams from her eyes and hands.

* Enhanced strength, durability and stamina

* Flight

* Mild Healing factor

Weapons: None

Key Weakness: Excessive absorption of foreign energy drains her own life source and can result in her losing consciousness.

Origin:

Aileen was a sleeper agent for T.O.X.I.N. who infiltrated the "traitor" soldiers which fled the corporation and became heroes when the first ever Meta's were created. Her and her husband would go by the hero aliases, Powerhouse and E-Beam and fight alongside the first ever hero team which had members like Red Star and Gladiator. Only to later deceive them and kill those on the team after revealing their true intentions, but Red Star and Gladiator did not know of this and later disappear due to their own personal altercations. Aileen and her husband then retired as heroes after suffering the teams tragedy of being killed by a "mystery villain" then be ordered to create the ultimate weapon. Soon later they would conceive a child who they hoped would grow to become T.O.X.I.N.'s own weapon of mass destruction by having both super strength from the father and energy powers from the mother. When the child grew up believing the parents where heroes the child eventually became a hero too using their abilities going by a superhero name. Although when the parents revealed their true plans it did not bode well and the hero would be forced to battle their own parents, killing the father in the process. The mother would then hate her child from then on and become the all absence of hope, total despair and make it her duty to kill the hero.

Under 365nm Ultraviolet light, one seed stood out as it fluoresces in a different wavelength of light.

About Fluorescence:

Fluorescence is the phenomenon of absorption of electromagnetic radiation, typically from ultraviolet light, by a molecule and the subsequent emission of a photon at a lower energy (smaller frequency, longer wavelength).

The "why?" explanation:

The fluorescence of young seeds under UV light is often attributed to the presence of certain compounds, such as flavonoids or other phenolic compounds, which can absorb UV light and emit light at longer wavelengths, often in the visible range. These compounds may serve various functions in the seed, such as protection against UV damage or signaling for seed dispersal.

LEVELS OF ABSORPTION, 2004 by LAURA MAYOTTE

36”w x 20 1/2”h x 16”d

Handmade flax paper, handspun and dyed linen yarn, indigo dye.

Artist’s Statement

Levels of Absorption holds many meanings for me. Literal meanings, such as the actual absorption of the indigo dye on the pages and watermarks, and abstract meanings, such as (being a book form) how much knowledge we absorb over a lifetime, the fact that we never make use of our entire brain, that there is always room for more knowledge, learning and growth, and that also the tree-like shape adds to this idea of growth over time. All the sewing reflects the pathways of the brain and how we think; how everything is connected, how odd things can remind us of seemingly unrelated things, but they are all there and accessible. This sewing is also rather electricity-like in appearance, and metaphorically, referring to how fast our thoughts can be, our natural reflexes or responses to stimuli, and how knowledge gained over time can be instantly accessed once learned.

Sheffield Joint Omnibus Committee unusually combined municipal and railway ownership of buses and services.

Sheffield’s fleet and its operational routes were split into three groups, Corporation, Joint & Railway Company . Two railway companies were involved prior to the 1948 formation of British Rail and joint operations with other operators made life in the Steel City even more unusual.

Even with these complications the committee had an enviable reputation for quality. Pictured is 654BWB, a Metro-Cammell bodied Leyland Atlantean PDR1 which was new to Shefield JOC in April 1962 as No.1354, along with 8 sisters (1350-1358).

In 1973 all 9 passed to South Yorkshire PTE (this one being renumbered 224) following that undertakings absorption of the JOC.

One vehicle from the batch, 657BWB, survives today, although it now bears no resemblance to the example we see here. In 1968 it was rebodied by Park Royal following extensive fire damage and is preserved at Sandtoft.

The general term ice age or, more precisely, glacial age denotes a geological period of long-term reduction in the temperature of the Earth's surface and atmosphere, resulting in an expansion of continental ice sheets, polar ice sheets and alpine glaciers. There have been at least four major ice ages in the Earth's past. Outside these periods, the Earth seems to have been ice-free even in high latitudes. There is evidence that greenhouse gas levels fell at the start of ice ages and rose during the retreat of the ice sheets, but it is difficult to establish cause and effect. Greenhouse gas levels may also have been affected by other factors which have been proposed as causes of ice ages, such as the movement of continents and vulcanism. Although the last glacial period ended more than 8,000 years ago, its effects can still be felt today. For example, the moving ice carved out landscape in Canada, Greenland, northern Eurasia and Antarctica. The erratic boulders, till, drumlins, eskers, fjords, kettle lakes, moraines, cirques, horns, etc., are typical features left behind by the glaciers. The Dutch IJsselmeer lake is covered with icerocks hummocks, caused by the cold weather of the passed days. At some places even higher than 6 meter!

Photo taken of hummocks at the IJsselmeer (Markermeer) near Uitdam. On the background you can see the skyline of Almere. A hummock is a boss or rounded knoll of ice rising above the general level of an ice-field, Hummocky ice is caused by slow and unequal pressure in the main body of the packed ice, and by unequal structure and temperature at a later period. Blue ice occurs when snow falls on the ice. The blue color is actually created for the same reason that water is blue, that is, its slight absorption of red light due to an overtone of the infrared OH stretching mode of the water molecule.

This is the cumulation of 154 Hubble orbits pointing at this cluster!

Looking at the largest elliptical galaxies, almost all of them are disturbed in some way, almost as if they have recently consumed or interacted with a smaller neighbor. The shells which align more or less neatly with the long axis are indicative of absorption of a much smaller galaxy, which seems to be the case for all of the interacting ellipticals. You can almost imagine if time were sped up that this cluster would be a roiling ball of activity with the largest galaxies consistently snacking on smaller morsels. Also visible are many lenticular galaxies, seemingly devoid of star formation but still maintaining some semblance of their past spiral selves.

What is interesting to me is the blue background galaxies. My best guess would be that they are starforming immensely and putting out a lot of ultraviolet light. All that light gets redshifted and shows up in the 435 filters.

On television advertisments try to make us think if we try a certain product it will change our lives forever and everything will be great. Indeed it's rather ridiculous as it's a bit like I've been following their campagns I've done and bought most of the things I need to be successful in my gradual absorption into Jojo. But even after all I've done I still have to look in the mirror to see a difference as in many ways I feel just the same. Maybe of course we forget how things really were in the past and if I had to make a choice I certainly wouldn't want to go back to my bad old days lol. Indeed I'm so much happier now, I have better friends and I can be what I want but we can't do everything even if it's something so small like putting corn plasters on our feet.

Casa Cavassa, a refined Renaissance residence in the historic heart of Saluzzo, was transformed in the late 15th century by Marquis Michele Antonio di Saluzzo into an elegant urban palace blending medieval structure with Renaissance elegance. Today home to the Civic Museum Casa Cavassa, it preserves original frescoes, stuccoes, and period furnishings, offering a rare glimpse into the domestic life and artistic tastes of the noble elite in the Marquisate of Saluzzo. Its harmonious courtyard and richly decorated interiors reflect the cultural flourishing of this independent Piedmontese state before its absorption into the Duchy of Savoy.

Several versions of the myth have survived from ancient sources. The classic version is by Ovid, found in book 3 of his Metamorphoses (completed 8 AD); this is the story of Narcissus and Echo. One day Narcissus was walking in the woods when Echo, an Oread (mountain nymph) saw him, fell deeply in love, and followed him. Narcissus sensed he was being followed and shouted "Who's there?". Echo repeated "Who's there?". She eventually revealed her identity and attempted to embrace him. He stepped away and told her to leave him alone. She was heartbroken and spent the rest of her life in lonely glens until nothing but an echo sound remained of her. Nemesis, the goddess of revenge, learned of this story and decided to punish Narcissus. She lured him to a pool where he saw his own reflection. He didn't realize it was only an image and fell in love with it. He eventually recognized that his love could not be reciprocated and committed suicide.

An earlier version ascribed to the poet Parthenius of Nicaea, composed around 50 BC, was recently rediscovered among the Oxyrhynchus papyri at Oxford.Like Ovid's version, it ends with Narcissus committing suicide. A version by Conon, a contemporary of Ovid, also ends in suicide (Narrations, 24). In it, a young man named Aminias fell in love with Narcissus, who had already spurned his male suitors. Narcissus also spurned him and gave him a sword. Aminias committed suicide at Narcissus's doorstep. He had prayed to the gods to give Narcissus a lesson for all the pain he provoked. Narcissus walked by a pool of water and decided to drink some. He saw his reflection, became entranced by it, and killed himself because he could not have his object of desire.[3] A century later the travel writer Pausanias recorded a novel variant of the story, in which Narcissus falls in love with his twin sister rather than himself (Guide to Greece, 9.31.7).

Influence on culture

Тhe myth of Narcissus has inspired artists for at least two thousand years, even before the Roman poet Ovid featured a version in book III of his Metamorphoses. This was followed in more recent centuries by other poets (e.g. Keats and Alfred Edward Housman) and painters (Caravaggio, Poussin, Turner, Dalí (see Metamorphosis of Narcissus), and Waterhouse).

Narcissus in literature : Narcissus by Gyula Benczúr In Stendhal's novel Le Rouge et le Noir (1830), there is a classic narcissist in the character of Mathilde. Says Prince Korasoff to Julien Sorel, the protagonist, with respect to his beloved girl:She looks at herself instead of looking at you, and so doesn't know you.During the two or three little outbursts of passion she has allowed herself in your favor, she has, by a great effort of imagination, seen in you the hero of her dreams, and not yourself as you really are.(Page 401, 1953 Penguin Edition, trans. Margaret R.B. Shaw). The myth had a decided influence on English Victorian homoerotic culture, via André Gide's study of the myth, Le Traité du Narcisse ('The Treatise of the Narcissus', 1891), and the only novel by Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray.

Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist also starts with a story about Narcissus, found (we are told) by the alchemist in a book brought by someone in the caravan. The alchemist's (and Coelho's) source was very probably Hesketh Pearson's The Life of Oscar Wilde (1946) in which this story is recorded (Penguin edition, p. 217) as one of Wilde's inspired inventions. This version of the Narcissus story is based on Wilde's "The Disciple" from his "Poems in Prose (Wilde) ".Author and poet Rainer Maria Rilke visits the character and symbolism of Narcissus in several of his poems.Seamus Heaney references Narcissus in his poem "Personal Helicon" from his first collection "Death of a Naturalist":

"To stare, big-eyed Narcissus, into some spring

Is beneath all adult dignity."In Rick Riordan's Heroes of Olympus series, Narcissus appears as a minor antagonist in the third book The Mark of Athena. In the fantasy series Harry Potter, Narcissa Malfoy, a minor antagonist, is named for Narcissus.William Faulkner's character "Narcissa" in Sanctuary, sister of Horace Benbow, was also named after Narcissus. Throughout the novel, she allows the arrogant, pompous pressures of high-class society to overrule the unconditional love that she should have for her brother.Hermann Hesse's character "Narcissus" in "Narcissus and Goldmund" shares several of mythical Narcissus' traits, although his narcissism is based on his intellect rather than his physical beauty.A. E. Housman refers to the 'Greek Lad', Narcissus, in his poem Look not in my Eyes from A Shropshire Lad set to music by several English composers including George Butterworth. At the end of the poem stands a jonquil, a variety of daffodil, Narcissus Jonquilla, which like Narcissus looks sadly down into the water.Herman Melville references the myth of Narcissus in his novel Moby-Dick, in which Ishmael explains the myth as "the key to it all," referring to the greater theme of finding the essence of Truth through the physical world. On Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen's A Fada Oriana, the eponymous protagonist is punished with mortality for abandoning her duties in order to stare at herself in the surface of a river.

Narcissus on film

In the TV series Boardwalk Empire, a Dr. Narcisse (Valentin Narcisse) is introduced as a condescending intellectual.

Scottish-Canadian animator Norman McLaren finished his career with a short film named Narcissus, re-telling the Greek legend through ballet.Narcissus appears in the Disney adaptation of Hercules. In the film, he is portrayed as an Olympian god with purple skin.In the film Bab'Aziz, directed by Nacer Khemir, a Narcissus like character was portrayed by an ancient prince who sat by a pond for days after days and looked at the reflection of his own soul. He was referred to as 'The prince who contemplated his soul'.Pink Narcissus is an artistic film by James Bidgood about the fantasies of a hustler. The escape craft Ripley boards in the 1979 Ridley Scott film Alien is called the Narcissus. In the 2011 film Seeing Heaven, Narcissus is depicted in a painting - the character of the film also replicates the myth of Narcissus gazing at his own reflection. The film delves deeply into the main character (Paul) and the theme is loosely based on the myth of Narcissus, as all who look at Paul are transfixed by his beauty - just as all those who gazed upon Narcissus were transifixed with his beauty.

National Medal Of Arts recipient Morten Lauridsen wrote a choral work entitled "Dirait-on" based on the poem by Rainer Maria Rilke."Supper's Ready" by Genesis (ca. 1972), a near-23-minute epic song laden with religious and mythological imagery, refers to the myth of Narcissus as follows: A young figure sits still by the pool / He's been stamped "Human Bacon" by some butchery tool / (He is you) / Social Security took care of this lad. / We watch in reverence, as Narcissus is turned to a flower. / A flower?. The movement is titled "How Dare I Be So Beautiful?".American rock band Tool made a subtle reference in their song "Reflection" from their third studio album Lateralus. Not only is the whole song a metaphor of the myth, but it also makes an explicit reference: And as I pull my head out I am without one doubt/ Don't want to be down here feeding my narcissism/ I must crucify the ego before it's far too late/ I pray the light lifts me out. The song combines elements of self-analysis and finding the right path, versus self-infatuation and absorption.Progressive metal band Threshold referenced the myth with an 11-minute epic titled "Narcissus", the closing track on their album Hypothetical. Greek metal band Septic Flesh recorded a song about Narcissus (called "Narcissus") on their album Communion."Narcissus in a Red Dress" by The Like was released on The Like EP and their album Release Me. The Canadian band Hedley has written a song about Narcissus (called "Narcissist"). One line goes He falls in love with his reflection in the glass / He can't resist who's staring back.Composer Nikolai Tcherepnin wrote his ballet "Narcisse et Echo, Op. 40 in 1911 for Sergei Diaghilev's Ballets Russes and was danced by Nijinski. Uruguayan band El Cuarteto de Nos wrote the song "Me Amo" (I Love Myself) in which the chorus sings "como Narciso soy" (I am like Narcissus). In 2010, Swedish electronic artist pacific! released "Narcissus" an album and ballet staged in Gothenburg.[7] In 1994, composer Mark Applebaum composed Narcissus: Strata/Panacea for marimba solo. This work comprised one movement of the larger Janus Cycle, for mixed instrumentation.[8] In 1987, Thea Musgrave was commissioned by a consortium of four flutists for a solo work. She composed Narcissus for flute and digital delay.

In 1898 Havelock Ellis, an English sexologist, used the term "narcissus-like" in reference to excessive masturbation, whereby the person becomes his or her own sex object. In 1899, Paul Näche was the first person to use the term "narcissism" in a study of sexual perversions.

Otto Rank, in 1911, published the first psychoanalytical paper specifically concerned with narcissism, linking it to vanity and self-admiration.Sigmund Freud only published one paper exclusively devoted to narcissism in 1914, called "On Narcissism: An Introduction".One of the personality disorders is called narcissistic personality disorder. In Marilyn Manson's song Deep Six, One of the lines mentions his name, along with the Greek god Zeus.

Narcissus was once walking by a lake or river and decided to drink some water; he saw his reflection in the water and was surprised by the beauty he saw; he became entranced by the reflection of himself. The myth of Narcissus is one of the most known Greek Myths, due to its uniqueness and moral tale; Narcissus, was the son of River God Cephisus and nymph Lyriope. He was known for his beauty and he was loved by God Apollo due to his extraordinary physique. The myth of Narcissus comes in two different versions, the Greek and the Greco-Roman version, as both Conon the Greek and Ovid, the Roman poet, wrote the story of Narcissus, enhancing it with different elements.According to Conon, Aminias, a young man fell in love with Narcissus, who had already spurned his male suitors. Aminias was also spurned by Narcissus who gave the unfortunate young man a sword. Aminias killed himself at Narcissus’ doorstep praying to the Gods to give Narcissus a lesson for all the pain he had provoked.Narcissus was once walking by a lake or river and decided to drink some water; he saw his reflection in the water and was surprised by the beauty he saw; he became entranced by the reflection of himself. He could not obtain the object of his desire though, and he died at the banks of the river or lake from his sorrow. The myth presented by Ovid the poet is slightly altered. According to this myth, Narcissus’ parents were worried because of the extraordinary beauty of the child and asked prophet Teiresias what to do, regarding their son’s futureTeiresias told them that the boy would grow old only if “he didn’t get to know himself”. When Narcissus was sixteen he was walking in the woods and Nymph Echo saw him and felt madly in love with him. She started following him and Narcissus asked “who’s there”, feeling someone after him.Echo responded “who’s there” and that went on for some time until Echo decided to show herself. She tried to embrace the boy who stepped away from Echo, telling her to leave him alone. Echo was left heartbroken and spent the rest of her life in glens; until nothing but an echo sound remained of her.Nemesis, though, the Goddess of Revenge, heard the story and decided to punish Narcissus. From this point the stories are similar; Narcissus sees himself in the pond and he is amazed by the beauty of the reflection. Once he figured out that his love could not be addressed, he killed himself.

Family outing... Cowry snails usually inhabit rocky and coral areas where they browse on algae, or encrusting invertebrates like sponges and bryozoans (diet varies with species). They are most active at night and conceal themselves in crevices during the day. In cowries, the spire (pointed end) of the shell is overgrown by the last whorl, resulting in a rounded, domed shape. The shell-producing mantle tissue has two special folds that extend outside the shell in the cowries. These mantle folds keep the shell clean and polished, and prevent boring or encrusting organisms from causing damage to the shell surface. The mantle is covered with frilly, branched projections called papillae. The functions of the papillae are not clear: they may provide camouflage for the animal by breaking up the snail’s outline; or may allow absorption of oxygen from the seawater. Found in Anilao, South Luzon, Philippines

Another day, another kairos overflowing with self-expression, self-reflection and possibly a touch of self-absorption.

So here's a question to you photographers: Do we add a piece of ourselves to every portrait we make? or does every subject add a little something to us? Discuss.

EN_ Surely the best known nebula of the sky in the world, and of course if its beauty is unmatched.

The Orion Nebula is a stellar nursery where new stars are forming at more than 1500 light years, full of emission, reflection and absorption nebulas located on the edge of a gigantic complex of molecular clouds, these colorful nebulae only represent a small difference of the richness of interstellar material of this galactic neighborhood. Inside this well-studied stellar nursery, astronomers have also identified what appear to be numerous young planetary systems, M42 is one of the brightest nebulae in the sky visible on the sword of the Orion hunter as a diffuse and dim star.

WR-134 is a Wolf Rayet star located in Cygnus. The star itself, located about 6000 light years from Earth, is surrounded by a Oxygen-dominated nebula that is being blown around by radiation and winds from the WR star itself. The star itself is about 5 times the radius of our sun and was one of the first three stars observed in Cygnus to have intense emission lines rather than continuous or absorption lines. This class of stars is now known as Wolf-Rayet stars.

This image is a HOO Bicolor image totaling about 34.7 hours of exposure time taken over 7 nights.

This image will eventually be mosaic'd with the Crescent Nebula, which I am current halfway done gathering data for.

Poem.

The mercury greys, the tree-lined ebony silhouettes, deep indigo and silver-coated marbling, gleaming, beaming off the cloud-reflected bay-

Dazzles and spell-binds.

That precious God-given ambience of early dawn blinds us but etches blurred images of heavenly proportions to our senses.

The mesmerising light, the near-silent water’s edge only broken by the lilting call of the oyster-catcher or the muffled comments of stirring sailors aboard their dreamy yachts.

These familiar sounds, the salt-laden odours of a near-calm bay and the silent, gentle absorption of the sun’s rays rouses and energises a myriad of life-forms to a glorious new day.

To witness this scene is pure bliss.

To hear, feel and sense it, is almost indescribable.

to decrease aubergine oil absorption i'll try this method of cooking aubergine next time no salt required (suggested in *the kitchn.com)

... Soak the eggplant in milk ( i'll use oat milk)

Soaking slices or cubes off eggplant in milk for one to two hours fills the porous structure studded with air pockets with milk, leaving no room for oil to be absorbed ...

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Name: Gideon Charles Wolfe

Villain's name: Cinder, Saint Cobalt/St. Cobalt, Mr. Wolfe

Age: 50’s

Bio: Wolfe is one of the biggest heads of a crime organisation in Los Angeles, and his family is one of many. He started to lose his hair in his 30’s, causing him to get hair extensions—and dying it even more blond in order to maintain his youth.

Wolfe grew to the crime business soon enough at 14, after he killed his siblings and his father, and spared his mother a life, forcing her to never return—(in reality she was sent to an isolated island, where she would die of hot weather, and her ashes are still kept with Wolfe). He also spared his two cousins, who were willing to work for/with him.

As time grew, the older Wolfe would develop powers. He used it seize even more control of land and power, and managed to corrupt and influence the government and the police.

Until Blazefire, a vigilante, his plans would go into conflict despite not even knowing the hero at all and due to the fact they have never met.

Powers and abilities: Lava generation to a degree, he can “burn” his skin like molten, but only affects his clothes a bit, because he can control it to a degree. He can also manipulate molten rocks underground and lava on the surface. Wolfe’s inability to feel cold is most often due to absorption of heat and fire. He can create offensive and defensive magma constructs as well, such as soldiers and henchmen to protect at him at his disposal. Wolfe is an excellent businessman, trader, smuggler, extortion and among many skills like the Triads and Yakuza. He is quite feared by many other gangsters due to his power and presence, and most are willing to work for him. Last but not least is his secret ability at unarmed combat (managed to take down a group of Yakuza), though he prefers to shy away from it, leaving his aides to do his work for him.

Weaknesses: To keep his empire stable and powerful, disdain for rivals like Titus Harrington, Hendrix, and others who he considers to be in his way. Greed for power instead of money, though he still likes money to a degree. His powers can be resisted by fire and lava proof users and materials, molten can be able to cool down

Equipment: Fancy suits/tuxedoes, a golden staff which also acts as a crowbar and personal sidearm/weapon. Access to lots of technology and black market material.

Personality: Ruthless, corrupt, remorseless, unscrupulous, complex.

Please take your time... and enjoy it large on black

Ramsau bei Berchtesgaden is famous for its high mountains, including the third highest mountain in Germany, the fabled Mount Watzmann - 2713 m, and for the lake Hintersee. The 16th-century Pfarrkirche St. Sebastian - Church of Ramsau is often on postcards. The church is the most photographed place along the Alpenstrasse. Josef Mohr, the man who penned the lyrics to Silent Night, preached here. Ramsau is situated in the heart of the Bavarian Alps in the Berchtesgaden National Park. The scenery between the Watzmann Mountain and valley of Lake Königssee are both enticing and overwhelming. Whether you are a walker or a cyclist, you will be able to relax and wind down while pursuing your choice of activity. In winter, tourists enjoy cross-country ski trails, sled runs, and ice skating on the Hintersee.

The Ramsau parish church St. Sebastian with the Reiteralpe mountains in the background is a much photographed scene and I confess I found its attraction quite magnetic. To make the foreground even more attractive as the background I did a little fun cooperation with my talented friend AnnA Theodora. The idea started when I saw her self portrait photo in front of curtains. A beautifully and elegantly composed photo. I edited some additional lights and made a perfect window scene for this image. It was time for Anna to close the curtains before the night falls. Best enjoyed in large on black. I hope the image comes alive. "Anna it's time to close the curtains in Ramsau!"

Firing the ever-impressive .50 BMG round from a rotary 5+1 magazine with chamber selector buttons, this bolt-action sniper rifle is best suited for a marksman that is often on the move.

The rifle's rugged construction, bipod and foregrip will help the marksman quickly take aim, further supported by the intelligent LIDAR-equipped scope that uses a long-range laser emitter to detect wind strength and direction as well as range to target. The scope then automatically calculates the bullet drop and wind interference with the round, and adjusts its crosshairs within the scope accordingly.

This system can also be switched off, as the scope is still manually adjustable through the D-Pad and the 2-slider, 3-button control system for precision finetuning as needed.

The muzzle brake helps mitigating recoil as well as redirecting the muzzle flash. The barrel (as well as the rest of the internals) has been cold hammer forged out of a titanium-vanadium alloy. This alloy is highly durable yet relatively light, and is also highly resistant to moisture.

The stock features a height-adjustable cheekrest, a semi-flexible buttpad for increased recoil absorption, a monopod that retracts inside the stock, and a few rubberized grip panels.
