This is the future. A human genome decoded by an external service provider (Complete Genomics, www.completegenomics.com) and delivered digitally to your doorstep via Amazon Web Services and their neat high-scale cloud data ingest/export service acting as fulfillment providers.
This box contains a disk drive holding the genome from NA19240, a Yoruban female and the related data that compares it to NCBI Release 37 of the Human Reference Genome
Total size is about ~350 gigabytes. The plan is to use this sample data set in a series of upcoming experiments involving large scale data movement and cloud platform ingest/export.

A variant of the BAE Systems Integrated System Technologies AWS-9 3-D naval radar, Type 996 is the United Kingdom Royal Navy's (RN) nomenclature for the E/F-band, 3-D surveillance and target indication radar that has been used with the service's Sea Dart and Seawolf surface-to-air missile systems.
The equipment utilises a multibeam, phased-array antenna that rotates at 30 rpm and has a co-mounted identification friend-or-foe array.

This bell gives the driver an audible warning that the signal about to be passed is set to green meaning the train is ok to proceed.
I am in the process of restoring it and this is a short video of it being tested following a rebuild and rectification work.
Why?.......because I can!

My experience at re:Invent through a series of short selfie videos. I was originally asked to create some shorts for recruitment purposes, but I decided to string them all together with some more fun stuff while on the plane home.
AWS Shopper - Form follows function
Der wohl radikalste Ansatz konsequent auf jegliches Design zu verzichten wurde mit dem AWS Shopper von 1973 umgesetzt. Gerade Bleche, mit Vierkantprofilen untereinander vernietet.
So ist dieser Kleinstwagen, wohl unter konsequentem Ausschluss jeglicher formgestalterischer Fachkräfte, entstanden.
Etwas weniger freundlich bleibt trotz des Abstand von fünf Jahrzehnten, die eigentlich für eine Versöhnung mehr als ausreichend sein sollten, das Fazit: Der AWS Shopper ist wohl eines der hässlichsten Autos, die jemals in Deutschland gebaut wurden. Da der BMW X6 zwar von einer deutschen Marke verkauft, aber in einem Werk in den USA produziert wird.
In West-Deutschland gab es bis 1955 die Möglichkeit, einen Führerschein der Klasse IV zu machen. Dieser hat keine praktische Fahrprüfung erfordert und berechtigte, Kraftfahrzeuge aller Art bis zu einem Hubraum von 250 Kubikzentimetern zu führen.
Damit konnten Kleinstautos, wie z.B: das für dieses Klientel bis 1969 produzierte Goggomobil gefahren werden.
Nach dessen Produktionseinstellung wurden verschiedene Fahrzeuge des untersten Segments wie Fiat 500 und 126 oder der NSU Prinz 4 durch Umbau auf Goggo-Motoren für diese Klientel zugänglich gemacht. In die selbe Lücke zielte auch der AWS Shopper, der die nachproduzierte Bodengruppe des Goggomobil nutzte. Dennoch: mit knapp 1400 Fahrzeugen blieb der Erfolg überschaubar.
Mit 13,6 PS soll mit reichlich Anlauf und Mut eine Maximalgeschwindigkeit von 80 km/h erreicht werden können.
