The heart of the M-ATV is a Caterpillar C8 diesel/electric hybrid engine, developing 400hp. Another unique feature is the second set of rear-hinged 'suicide doors'.
The vehicle has a crew of four, as well as offering a payload capacity of 1,800kg. Although originally designed with a roof hatch for a crew-served weapon, almost all M-ATVs have been outfitted with the CROWS IV remote weapon system.

This 1941 Austin K2 ATV (Axillary Towing Vehicle) was used by the NFS (National Fire Service) in Oxford. It was made in Longbridge, Birmingham, and weighed 2.7 tonnes. The crews of this Second World War vehicle carried 48 hours worth of fuel, engine oil, food and water.
This ATV, registered GLE 32, is on display at the National Emergency Services Museum, Sheffield.

The BOMBA DAN PENYELAMAT MALAYSIA need something light weight vehicle to act and move fast to rescue victim in the jungle. This model is based on the Honda 6x6 ATV.
Seen on the Woodhead Pass heading back to Optare for warranty work is Tanat Valley's Optare Tempo - 251 YJ56 ATV. Pictured on 14th April 2007
