This image came to me after the first Aquaman Movie Stills were released online a few weeks back. I've been pumped for this movie for a good long while now and, honestly, I had an itch to photograph something Aquaman! :P

This photo was a tinge inspired by George Probst's work with underwater photography with sharks in particular. He's actually got an account here on flickr if you're keen!

Now that the trailer is out (and I'm sure just like me, you've watched it plenty of times by now), so I just wanted to chat about it! :P

Boy that trailer was action packed to the brim and I loved every second of it! :D

Right of the bat, my initial thoughts are (along with SHAZAM!) is that Geoff Johns is taking over the movies after taking over the comics, and we're gonna get everything New 52 from here on out. I suppose that's a good thing. It'll be a decent jumping on point for new fans that were burned out by BvS and JL.

There seems to be a level of restriction in terms of where they're pulling source material now, and honestly I think that's a good thing. (Unlike trying to fit the two very different tones of TDKRII and Death of Superman into the same film)!

Like really though, this trailer indicated to me that we're gonna get the first twenty-or-so issues of N52 Aquaman as a live action movie and I'm totally on board for it! New 52 Aquaman was one of the better series to come out at the time anyway! :P

I have this anticipation that it’s gonna get really weird and crazy really fast, with everything from giant shark battles, to Black Manta’s crew being up to no good, to Orm and The Atlantians being crummy like they do, to then Mera and The Deluge from The Mariana Trench, and just... oof... there’s a lot to balance there and I can only hope it pays off without crumbling into itself like Spider-Man 3...

Also (maybe this is just a tangent) but it feels like those N52 Aqua-books only just came out! But thinking about it, 2011 was like seven years ago!

Since when did that time go by so fast?!

Idk, I'm just in the mindset that most of the current superhero movies are generally based around book titles anywhere from the early 80s into the early 00s and just like... sheesh this is all happening so fast!

But you know what?! I'm proud of you DC! You're growing up! (finally!)

Just... DUDE! I don't even know which movie I'm more excited for! Maybe this one, because it feels just a little bit more of an original take on a story, where as SHAZAM! Feels almost like a beat-for-beat retelling of John's run. But the fact that we've got two upcoming DC movies within the next year or so has me super hyped up! (and even more so for the Lego sets we'll inevitably get)!

I'm really keen to see where they take this universe now that Zach Snyder is out of the picture. I'm hoping that how the adjustments in the JL movie felt out of place, with a fully realized tonal direction, we should really start to see some cool shit in the coming films! :D

Justice League Thoughts (Mostly bad but I liked some things) by TheMooseFigs

Hey spoilers.

What I liked:

Use of the classic Danny Elfman Batman theme and a hint of the classic Superman theme.

Both after credits scenes.

Superman was actually upbeat and cared about things. Actually felt like a friendly dude that would be your friend. I like that they are trying to change his personality, but this change seems really sudden.

Flash and Supes had good chemistry and scenes together. Supes and Flash bits were the best part of the movie.

Wonder Woman was alright.

Supes beating the shit out of Steppenwolf.

J.K. Simmons was fine as Gordon, just saw like nothing of him.

Bruce gets Martha's house back. Also liked the bit where Martha meets Clark again after his revival.

Green Lantern character that is killed immediately in that flash back.

The first shot of Batman in the movie where he is like 100 feet away and crouching on another building.

Parademons looked and sounded cool.

Cyborg was ok, and not as bad as I thought he would be.

Steppenwolf's voice.

WW revealing that she knew Cyborg was watching her and Bruce the whole time.

I'm glad that my Dad liked this movie more than me, because I care more if he enjoys a movie than I do.

What I didn't like:

This movie is stupid and confusing. So much stuff just doesn't make sense. The pacing is also rushed and the whole film feels cobbled together.

Are Aquaman and Mera married? Why does Mera list off her backstory when Aquaman shows up? If they are a couple, why do they act like bitter associates?

Was I supposed to care about that random Russian family the movie kept cutting to? Also, i'm curious. The subtitles for that family were like to low in my theater. If any letters hung down like a lowercase "y" or "g", then the bottom bits of those letters were cut off. I don't know if this was just in my theater or everywhere, but I thought it was odd.

Batman/ Bruce Wayne is shitty in this. This movie ruined the DCEU Batman for me. He's a brash idiot who makes stupid decisions. He acts like Superman is such a great guy who he has known for years, but has met him for maybe about an hour in actuality in BVS. And his master plan is to lead Parademons away and die. I hate that he shoots out quips and jokes and shit. He gets his ass kicked far to easily, and nothing about this character convinces me that he has been Batman for 20 years prior to this movie like they want us to think. Batman is by far the worst part of this movie. It does not help that Ben Affleck phoned every one of his lines, and just felt like he did not want to be there.

They do the dumb teammates fight each other/ don't get along crap before they team up cliche.

Why does all the bad rock and goo stuff turn into flowers after Steppenwolf leaves?

I still don't know what Motherbox's do. So they combine and then reshape a planet, but also make machines and other power sources?

Steppenwolf's eyes are like a mile apart and it's distracting.

Henry Cavil's upper lip 99% in this movie is clearly CGI from the mustache re shoots, especially in the very first scene of the movie. It's really distracting.

The Amazons and Atlantians are stupid. They either leave the Motherbox in an open room, or in a room with lock-down doors made of regular stone, and Steppenwolf can like teleport in and out of the room anyway. I guess they didn't know he would be the one to come for it or something.

Superman is evil for about 5 minutes and then he's fine when Amy Adams shows up. Also shitty Lois Lane is in the movie, which is a flaw on its own, especially after the absurd amount of screen-time she had dedicated to her pointless side plot in BVS.

I have no idea what Steppenwolf even wanted to do. I think he wanted to terraform the Earth, but I don't know why he wants to do Earth specifically.

Some of the acting was bad.

What did those bank robber guys that WW took down even want to do? Just blow up people because they knew Steppenwolf was coming?

A lot of the CGI/ special effects were horrible. Some very bad green screen as well.

Besides Supes and Flash, nothing stood out about the other characters, and they were either just there or terrible.

Deathstroke's eye-patch in the after credits scene looked weird, and I wish they just kept the actors hair black with some white highlight instead of all white, because the all white looks very unnatural, and clearly is not the actors actual hair color.

My over all ranking of the DCEU films.

1. MoS- boring but good, and I like it.

2. JL- Just exists. Not good, but I guess not bad entirely. By process of elimination, it gets 2nd place because it is still a better made film than SS.

3. SS- terrible film, but I enjoyed it enough, it had some good characters, and I like Will Smith as Deadshot.

4. BvS- I despise this movie, but I would rather watch it 5 times than watch WW once again. The only thing I like about this film is the Warehouse scene.

5. WW- An overrated, overly long, boring, forgettable, film that does not deserve the praise it got. It had an action scene I enjoyed, Chris Pine was likable, there was one cool shot of Ares appearing and disappearing to tell Dr. Poison something, and I like the dumb bit where the other two villains rub there hands together and laugh because they are evil because it was completely out of tone for the rest of the movie.

But hey, it's just a bad comic book movie. Who cares. If you liked it, good on you.

Eventually they became so obsessed that they sunk their city so that they could be closer to the fish. That didn't work very well. Moral: don't worship your food. Anyhow, this is the seventh build in my series of element experiment builds, a temple in which the Atlantians worshipped fish. Hope you like it!

Alter Ego: Dead Sea

Name: Xiphilinus

Allegiance: Anti-Villain

Powers: Enhanced strength, immune to most conventional harm, fast speed in water (or liquid with similar viscosity), and manipulation of water (think Avatar's water bending). Xiphilinus' abilities also get stronger depending on his proximity to bodies of water.

Weapons: The Trident of the Damned. This powerful artifact curses the user with powerful magic preventing them from dying but granting some abilities such as the control water.

Key Weakness: The farther from water the weaker Dead Sea is. Also immense amounts of heat can counteract many of his water based abilities.

Origin: Once the Captain of the Atlantian Royal Guard, Xiphilinus was a fearsome warrior. With his prestige and skill, he was trusted with the protection of many of Atlantis' most powerful and valuable artifacts. Among the most dangerous of these was the Trident of the Damned, belonging to Trophimus the Third King of Atlantis. It was said that the Trident housed both the powers of Poseidon and Hades, continuously warring with one another. Xiphilinus, along with most other Atlantians, died during the great Cataclysmic event for which much is not known about. Xiphilinus last act was to protect many of the artifacts which he parishes doing so. The power of the Trident forced him back to a half life. All but his bones eventually rotted away and his essence was bound to his skeletal Fran through the power of the Trident. He still seeks to protect the artifacts and often destroys anything he deems as a remote threat, terrorizing the oceans.

So this isn't an entry for the amalgam contest, I just saw Dan's alliteration of the mix and had to give them a go in my own way.

So I give you the Avengers of Justice! United in the threat of the Starlactus, the gods among men joined forces to defeat an enemy far to strong for one person to defeat!

From left to right:

Aquamor, the Submariner (Aquaman + Namor)

Son of the late human Tom Curry and Atlantian princess Fen, the pink skinned Aquamor was raised among the blue skinned Atlantians as the Bastard son of the royal empire. Never promised the throne Aquamor became the ambassador for mankind to help ease the growing threat of the Atlantian hatred for the 'surface dwellers' into no existence. Unfortunately Aquamor's efforts were in vain as his treacherous half brother Attumorm launched an attack on the throne room hoping to cease the crown before Thakkor had passed and succession was his so he could destroy the humans above. In defence of his grandfather Aquamor defeated his brother's forces saving Thakkor from Attumorm's attack. He was rewarded for this with his grandfather instating him as the rightful heir in place of Attumorm for the fight against his mutiny. Aquamor was then known as the protector of earth's oceans and link between the two worlds above and below the sea.

Heir to the T'Challa estate, fortune and company, Bruce's parents were murdered before his eyes by a rival companies hit man in an attempt to take the market by storm, free of competition. Vowing revenge for his parents murders, Bruce returned to his home land of Wakanda and trained under the watchful eyes of the elders in the nation to hone his skills to their peek from the young age of 14 till he was 22. Upon returning he took the mantel of his people, the Bat, and began fighting corruption and crime as the Black Bat.

Lady Soar Hol, Goddess of Thunder (Thor + Hawkwoman)

Lady Soar, daughter of the alien Thanagar god, Odin Hol, sent from her kingdom during the war between the Thanagraians and the Frost Ravens by her closest ally Loki Son, Lord of Shadows (her watcher) she now roams earth in her quest to find something upon the primitive planet that could help turn the tide of the war on her home. Armed with the magical mace Mjolnir she battles her way through many of her problems in her thirst for battle.

Witch of Wonders (Scarlett Witch + Wonder Woman) and Quickscarlet (Quicksilver + the Flash)

The brother and sister Diana and Barry Maximoff were born from a long line of 'miracles' each gifted with control over a worldly power. Diana gifted with magic a kin to that of the Amazonians and Barry with the speed of lightning, they prefer to stay in the dark, away from the judging eyes of humanity. Until the world became threatened and they were forced to emerge and defend their home.

Green Hawk (Green Arrow + Hawkeye)

Clinton Queen a former trick shot circus performer with a knack for the bow and arrow questions his morality when he joined up with the military organisation of A.R.G.U.S. Believing it the only way to quench his need for thrill he knew it would be the death of him. He almost believed it to have occurred when he became stranded alone on an island for 5 years in a mission gone wrong. Saved by the Atlantian Aquamor, Clinton returned to duties, but the cocky danger seeker he once was had been hardened into who he is now.

This diorama depicts King Poseidon of Atlantis' Annual Royal Chariot Race.

The race consists of three chariots, racing along an ancient Atlantian highway.

The chariots consist of a mermaid in a giant oyster shell, being pulled by Seahorses, a mermaid riding a Jellyfish, being pulled by Sea Turtles and finally a merman riding a crow's nest (from a wrecked Pirate ship) being pulled by a giant eel.

so i guess spoilers for wonder women women 84 if you want to go in it blind.

so the first set and possibly the only set for this movie's pics are out, and so far, meh? Max lord however looks sh*t at the far right litteray re-using parts from both the 60's batman and the auctioner from the jurrasic world mansion set.

the new wonder women armour looks...ok? i like the new hair and now golden falcon wings, but the torso looks kinda bland and kinda simular to those atlantian guards from the aquaman sets. but again that hair is nice.

cheetah (i guess this is the spoilery part in this post) honestly looks cool. this is the 3rd cheetah, one being the classic comics in the DCcmf and one being of the new 52, i'm glad this one isn't just yellow and it's white and tan, but tbh i think it just needs that little extra printing on part slike the arms, the sides of the legs, and ESPECIALLY that tan tail, cause from what i can see, it aint printed.

other leaks shows a new harley quinn (maybe for a lego dc set or oa birds of prey set, probably not for a birds of prey set cause the movie sucked and bombed at the box office, plus it's rated r-13)

a new loki for sum reason, don't know how he fits in most of the marvel sets that have been announced.

and a new hiddenside piece with the angler fish piece, tho idk if it's a regular fish mold with stud holes or if it goes over the head and it's a wearable helmet, idk but either way it's giving me some major ben 10 ripjaw vibes!
