CIE/MSL Leyland Atlantean PDR1/A1 DF415 new in 1972 is seen in its original factory delivered condition, it has been restored to its former glory and will be seen in 2023 once the mechanicals and interior is sorted.

DF800, VHMA/Leyland Atlantean AN68 is seen on Fleet Street Dublin December 1993 very late in its life

A very sad looking AN68 Atlantean, number 468 at Lathalmond and although some restoration work has been done I understand she has already gone to the scrapyard.

This is rather unfortunate as 465, bought by the Tyne and Wear Bus Preservation, has also been used for spare parts.

A sad ending then for another great work horse in Edinburgh, from the mid 1970's to 1992. I can remember when this fleet group was new just shortly after I left school.

Judging by the bits missing off of this engine, it wasn't used again.

Dinky toys Leyland Atlantean repainted into Maidstone and District livery.

This is a model I decide I had to have as soon as I saw it advertised. The model is made by Autralian company, Trux, who specialise in Aussie big rigs and buses and this is their first release of an Atlantean.

Controversy surrounded the introduction of the real buses due to its one-man operation, making it the centre of some drawn out industrial action.

Designed especially for the Public Transport Commission of New South Wales, this bus was unique to Sydney; however it eventually found work in many private transport and tourist operators throughout Australia and I believe a few were exported to Japan to upgrade the transport system there.

Ammonite type Atlantean.

Details about other photos and works are on the blog.

This former British bus is now based on the island of Ibiza. Appearing complete inside, this once red Atlantean is now an all-over advertisement vehicle for a local massage spa.

Other than a modern window sticker referring the the Midlands, there was nothing obvious to confirm it's previous owner or registration.

I always regretted the fact that OK Motor Services (or OK Travel to use its later trading name) never acquired any Volvo-Ailsas. Had it bought any new then it would most likely have had them bodied by Northern Counties of Wigan, as it did for its long-wheelbase Leyland Atlanteans and solitary Dennis Dominator.

This image depicts a Northern Counties-bodied Ailsa in the final, simplified OK Travel livery. It was in fact the style that had preceded the 'stripey' version but without the black edgings between the colours. Like all the OK liveries it looked extremely smart when clean, although sadly standards of turnout fell towards the end.

Leyland Atlantean PDR1A/1 with Metsec Bodywork made by CIE at the Spa Road Works in Inchicore, Dublin. It was built in 1972 and got an DAF DK1160 fitted in lieu of its factory fitted Leyland 0680 about t 1980. It was withdrawn by Dublin Bus about 1990 and became a Driver Trainer and was sold for Preservation in 1992.

An unusual view of a Devon General bus, but this was for modelling purposes.

Another shot of a Devon General Atlantean side on. This time its one of the 1969 MCW buses.

This digital representation depicts two generations of Leyland Atlanteans in the Busways training fleet. MVK 539K (DT16) on the left carries the squarer Alexander AL body, whilst former Newcastle Corporation SVK 621G (DT3) on the right carries the earlier A or J-Type body. As noted under an earlier image, interior details may be incorrect as both vehicles had the nearside staircases favoured by Newcastle Corporation and still specified on some vehicles order by its successors. So I bought Gradius III for the SNES on the Virtual Console and I was inspired to build another VV. This time I wanted one that I'd like to fly in the game so that meant lots of speed and firepower!
