#Flickr Friday #A Stroke Of Luck-Capturing the present and the past in one single frame

到了英國領事館,有點莞爾,我這土生土長的高雄人,還沒去過打狗英領事館官邸... 參觀紀念館,映入眼簾的是馬關條約...

Hans Zimmer - Time (Inception)

While changing my macro to my wide angle lens in the car, Zaynah peeked throught the tripnet. I couldn't adjust my settings, only had time for just one quick shot with a stroke of luck!!

Many thanks to all who takes the time to view, comment and fave my pictures!

Long time since I have been SO lucky :-)

This place has been on my list to shoot for a very long time and yesterday I finally made the trek up to it.

When I finally got here the sky was not very great but the sun was coming up and lighting the house perfectly so I made the long walk up to it. I spent quite a bit of time here hoping for a few clouds to show and after almost 2 hours I got a few whipsy clouds! Good enough to add some texture to the sky.

I'm glad I stuck it out for as long as I did! This was one of the very first places that stood out to me that I had seen on a number of my flickr contacts pages when I first joined. This one was inspired by a few of my favourite contacts, unfortunately some aren't active anymore but for those who are go check them out:

Jim, Alison, Ray, Hugh, Nelson, Darren , Caroline and Andy

Thanks for the inspiration!

It was a stroke of luck that I pulled into the gas station right behind this truck! An old beat up pickup truck with a dog box in the back. I suspect the dogs had been out hunting all night as they didn't look quite as fresh as they might have. The other side of the box had another head poking out too. I think they were most likely coon hounds.

This was the scene that suddenly presented itself in-front of me as I was shooting, up in the snow around Llyn Llydaw earlier this evening.

Two distress flares launched within around 5 minutes of each other from the Garnedd Ugain area and shooting across Llyn Glaslyn and lighting up the horseshoe surrounding it.

Unsure as to whether it was possibly an exercise or real emergency I made a note of all the details of time and where I thought they were, but within a few minutes of that once the wind dropped I was fairly sure I could hear shouting too. Since I had no signal up there on my phone I started to head down and text my friend Helen all the details I could, knowing that if I got enough signal to get a text out she would know what to do with it before I'd made my way down to somewhere I could use a phone...

Sure enough she did, and Mountain Rescue were made aware. They were on exercise somewhere that evening and I later got a voicemail to say they were involved in a rescue, so whether or not it was a genuine emergency I'm still not sure, but always better to be safe than sorry!

Updated: It was a genuine rescue, Llanberis Mountain Rescue were already on the case, and the casualty is off the mountain and now in the good hands of Ysbyty Gwynedd. Hopefully a happy ending, and always remember if you see signs of distress in the mountains, contact the emergency services

"A stroke of luck", I was staying away from home, opened the curtains on a very cold morning to see this sunrise and silhouette.

While visiting the beautiful Hollis Gardens in Lakeland, Florida, you can see Mirror Lake just outside its fencing. A short walk outside the garden wall gives you this view of a portion of downtown Lakeland across the water lilies of Mirror Lake. Of course, you need a 'stroke of luck' in midday-shooting to catch perfect clouds and outstanding lighting to assist your shot.

Anytime in the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season if you can catch a neon sign that says NO WAIT, then I say you have "a stroke of luck"

A rainbow courting my rose :)

... a false bird made with a feather duster

If you've been good and you're lucky you will see him soon.

This picture was added to the group photo pool of Flickr Friday for the theme - "A Stroke of Luck" - reflecting how difficult it was to take such a shot.

Patience and timing is #AStrokeofLuck (IMO);

it entails a lot of patience to capture the “perfect one” inside the frame during the rush hour for Christmas shopping.

In addition to the two large drips, can you see the three tiny drips?

It's that time of year again!

For Tasku's 12 Months for Dogs project and also for

our Studio 26 assignment - holiday photos.

Flickr Friday 'a stroke of luck" (it was a stroke of luck that Tasku turned her head and gently touched the 'Ho' at exactly the right moment)

A plane flew over my head!!!

While I tried to make a shot of the rain over the see these three just passed. Lucky me.

Whem asked by my better half if we had sufficient whickey for our upcoming party, I found these in our liquor cabinet...A Stroke of Luck. At least enough to begin the evening :-).

Saw the two biplanes planes coming from the north. What luck that they went right overhead as we were rolling in traffic. Speed burst to capture them in between the lines.

Fester the Cat loves this time of year because people bring him new boxes all the time.

A sudden visitor to my hanging garden. Rushed to get the cam, managed this.... :)

A medallion featuring Coyote from the web comic Gunnerkrigg Court, lit by candlelight. I love the colors from the lighting, especially the fiery orange under his chin.
