Fun with the California nebula in HaRGBL&OIII

moonrocksastro.com/index.php/astro-blog/

Ha was added to the Red channel then combined to produce an RGB image. Then Ha + OIII was used a luminance layer and OIII colour blue was layered though a masking process in Ps to create separation.

And so thanks to the incredible generosity of my best friend Vera (Professional Voice Actor - Click Here ), I got a loan to get me the Tamron 150-600mm G2 A022 Telescopic Lens, of which I trialled this morning, after waking far too early. It had occurred to me after receiving the lens I could use the full focal length and zoom in on garden pots, flowers and other blooms that are on balconies and out of reach areas, but look really good. So hence I leaned over my balcony and got this shot of a beautiful Night Sky Petunia, I actually came up with the title before I had ID'd the flower.

But now I have an ear worm of Metallica's cover of Astronomy from the Garage Days album playing in my head, so now with this massive, professional lens, I can now play with the big Boys and Girls! I've more shots on the way, stay tuned!

In the meantime, it's Friday so enjoy the weekend people and as always, thank you! :)

PS: Zoom in ;)

NGC 7635, also known as the Bubble Nebula, Sharpless 162, or Caldwell 11, is an H II region emission nebula in the constellation Cassiopeia. It lies close to the direction of the open cluster Messier 52. The "bubble" is created by the stellar wind from a massive hot, young central star (Wikipedia)

Orion From Back Yard

The Lagoon Nebula is a giant interstellar cloud in the constellation Sagittarius. It is classified as an emission nebula and as an H II region. The Lagoon Nebula was discovered by Giovanni Hodierna before 1654 and is one of only two star-forming nebulae faintly visible to the eye from mid-northern latitudes. The nebula lies around 4,077 light years away.

While I love the Great Orion Nebula, I am growing more enamored with this particular nebula. Take a closer look at everything going on here - dust lanes, waves of hydrogen clouds and more. It's a gorgeous nebula!
