This red Opel Astra caught my eye while I was walking down the Queen Square Centre area. So, I grabbed my phone and barley got the car inside the frame because it was moving.

I was returning after a long business session held by the ICA Liverpool at the Marriott Hotel, and my camera wasn’t in hand, that’s why I used my iPhone instead.

Found Object Robot Assemblage Sculpture

NAVIOS ASTRA (IMO: 9938614) is a Bulk Carrier that was built in 2022 sailing under the flag of Panama.

Her carrying capacity is 182393 t DWT and her current draught is reported to be 9.3 meters. Her length overall (LOA) is 292 meters and her width is 45 meters.

"Perveniens in Astra" (Reaching for the Stars) is what this Joshua Tree was doing in a cold and windy night in Death Valley.

This is a 4 shot blend for depth of field, one shot for the sky and 3 for the different layers of Joshua Trees. Not sure if it was light pollution from Las Vegas or the moon rising but I liked the way the orange glow at the horizon adds to the scene.

I think it was pure coincidence that these parked next to each other. Remarkable enough to see a pair of low-spec Mk1 Astras at a show, but for them both to be the rare saloon version.....

The gold one was owned by Trigger (who we sadly don't see much on here any more), I believe it was a competition prize won by its first owner. After doing a bit of work he's sold it since I saw (and drove) it in the summer. The yellow 4-door is one that I saw pre-restoration some years ago (see below).
