A new, large shoot of Asper Bamboo, Dendrocalamus asper. Each winter, it gets killed down to the ground. The rhizomes survive and new shoots appear. This species yields top quality edible shoots. It is native to India and elsewhere. Bamboo Grove, Arcadia, FL. 7-20-13.
