"COLORS OF A SPECTRUM" is the a photography workshop and exhibit for persons with Autism which was held last January 10, 2009.
This project was conceptualized by Mr. John Chua, a renowned photographer and considered one of the best in Manila, who started a passion among volunteer photographers/hobbyists to make a difference in touching people's lives by advocating for autism through photography.
The objectives of this event are to help children/adults with autism express the way they see their world through the pictures they take; to create a higher level of public awareness and understanding about autism and to give opportunities for companies to carry out their corporate social responsibility.
On January 10, 2009, 20 photographers showed up at Manila Ocean Park at 7:30AM to pair off with a kid each from ASP Cavite. Places we brought them to were Manila Ocean Park, Manila Zoo, and Mall of Asia. Parents were with the kids all the time; looking and shooting at them the whole day, I realized that these parents give their all and then some to their kids.
I talked to the mommy of my kid Joshua; she was telling me that her husband is a seaman and it was really hard bringing up Joshua and a 3-year old alone. Husband wasn't with her when she gave birth to Joshua; he was away at sea at that time.
Amidst all talk of harships and sacrifices, she said that it was really hard but in the end, it was worth it.
Thank you, John Chua, for letting us experience this wonderful bonding with the kids and their parents. It made me realize we are indeed very lucky to be what we are today.

View while going around the clubhouse turn, looking back toward the grandstand area and infield.
Commodore Downs opened to Thoroughbred racing in 1973, but had financial problems from the very beginning. It closed in 1983, reopening the following year as a harness track. This venture failed 2 years later. In 1986, the track reopened for Thoroughbred racing as Erie Downs. It closed permanently at the end of the 1987 season. The grandstand was demolished in 1999.
The site is now Phase II of the Fairview Business Park in Fairview Township, PA. The paved loop of the business park sits on top of the original 3/4 mile track. The infield, with its original pond, is now the Fairview Flag Park, which is open to the public for walking, hiking, bicyling, and dog walking.
