Another superb Realtoy BMW X5 model in my collection. Realistic casting, detailed features and well finished. Part of a 5 vehicle ASDA Turbos set. Mint and boxed.
This picture is made up of 2 old photographs that i had stuck together while at school for a project.
The view is looking from Coronation Road to New Charlotte Street (left) with the towers of the Police Station, and the Library, to the skeleton of the new Asda, and the remaining parts of Wills behind.
A triumph for the little people! The most logical route from the main pedestrian path south of the town centre to the new shops in Harlow is via the fire escape of Asda's car park.
At first Asda did all they could to discourage pedestrians from using this route. Eventually logic won out and they now appear to concede that we will use this route come what may!
Asda, already in Cwmbran at Llewelyn Walk, wanted a larger premises. They attempted to purchase the Post Office and its yard, for an even larger store. The Post Office refused to sell despite the cramped conditions of their sorting office, on the grounds that they wished "the main office co-located with the counter". Today the Post Office counter is in WH Smith and Rugby Heaven are in the old counter premises...
The multi-storey car park being demolished to make way for the store was only built in the 1970s.
An Asda trolley abandoned on Maendy Way just down from the canal. This is one of seven within two hundred yards on the road or in or by the canal, several of which have previously been uploaded.
I’m sure I’m not the only person who detests abandonment of trolleys. It shows no respect for the area, and a lack of respect for other people’s property. And it must impact on prices in the shops since the retailers pay for their recovery, and replacement/repair.
Shoppers receive tokens to vote for local charities to receive a share of the store's monthly charity donation.
Still in operation at ASDA's Middlesborough branch - I hadn't seen an ASDA Drive-thru petrol station in years. I think the Edinburgh Jewel branch had one.
