Mistigram: @littlebitspace repeatedly drew this #asciiart #skull -- perhaps Freddie Mercury's? -- flapping its jaw over and over again, resulting in this animation loop titled "Bite the Dust". This piece was included in the MIST1022 artpack collection released one year ago.
Mistigram: this monochrome newschool #ASCIIart logo for our 2nd WHQ BBS, The Jade Monkey (TJM), was drawn by Quip and included in the M-9801 artpack collection released 26 years ago this month.
Mistigram: you can't have one #GreatWaveOffKanagawa without having a second, implied one, so let's post a second interpretation of this 1831 #Hokusai #ukiyoe print, this time rendered in #ASCIIart by the formidable @littlebitspace. This piece was also included in the recent fine art-themed MIST0424 artpack collection.
Mistigram: this rather abstract green newschool #ASCIIart logo for Savage Exile BBS was drawn by Plastic as part of our Mistigris World Tour stop with Fistful of Steel in the FOS-0197 artpack collection released 27 years ago this month. (If you like it, he drew a dozen more that look exactly the same!)
Mistigram: CoaXCable didn't mess around, but directly sent us his very best beast in block ASCII when we were looking to populate the spooky MIST1022 artpack collection with monsters, creeps and cryptids. This piece placed 3rd in the PC #ASCIIart text art competition at last year's installment of the Flashparty demoparty, and as it just so happens they're still accepting submissions for this year's compos, so don't hesitate to get your creeps in today!
Mistigram: Wishbringer, SysOp of Juice BBS, was a local #ASCIIart practitioner who passed through our ranks between stints in the perennial "#3" artscene crew at CiA, ("Creators of Intense Art"). This newschool logo celebrating them marked the beginning of his official association with our Mist crew, by way of our Mistigris World Tour stop with Fistful of Steel in January of 1997, 27 years ago this month.
Mistigram: here's a survey of some of the styles, mediums and subjects covered in the spooky new MIST1023 artpack collection, including #teletext, #ASCIIart, #pixelart and more!
Mistigram: this #asciiart screen, "Pulse", sampling the movie #Hackers (which just turned 28 years old!), was part of an entire suite of works by @mavenmob forming the core of the recent MIST0823 artpack collection.
Mistigram: Nothing Satanic here, just what you might find beneath the furry exterior of any #goat's noggin! This #ASCIIart screen was made by @littlebitspace and included in the MIST1022 artpack collection released one year ago.
Mistigram: this unholy #asciiart demon comes from, well, the valley of Gehenna, but by way of the desk of @littlebitspace, our resident skull specialist. It was included in the spooky MIST1022 artpack collection released one year ago this month.
Mistigram: those unfamiliar with Japanese rock may not instantly recognize the iconic cover art to #Boøwy's 1986 album #BeatEmotion, but @kurogao96 has nailed it in their trademark #ASCIIart / emoji adaptation. This piece was included in our recent music-themed MIST0224 artpack collection.
Mistigram: this #ASCIIart swirl by @lt3s_mouse was used as the actual album art for #KasaiTakara's 2023 album #Lov. Most of the other artworks contained in our recent music-themed MIST0224 artpack collection were fanart of album covers, but this specimen was the genuine article!
Mistigram: this is not what is typically meant by "skeleton programming". That said... I can see where the confusion would set in. This #ASCIIart piece was made by @vermileonhart and included in the spooky MIST1022 artpack collection released one year ago this month.
Mistigram: this #ASCIIart logo by @littlebitspace ingeniously does what it says on the tin, illustrating how on cathode-ray tube displays the colour of every pixel on screen is influenced by electron beams firing to activate red, green and blue phosphor dots. This piece was included in the new MIST1121 artpack collection.
Mistigram: this #ASCIIart #Cyrillic script rendition of the name of #AntonChekhov's 1900 play #ThreeSisters (Три сeстры́) was drawn by @DosDocOne as part of his prize-winning submission to the text art competition at Moscow's recent "Demodulation 2023" demoparty. This piece was also included in the recent MIST0823 artpack collection.
Mistigram: nothing to be scared of, just enjoying the cool night air with my flesh off. Just taking a rest, can't seem to catch my breath without lungs in. (Wonder what's bringing all the flies out tonight?) This #ASCIIart screen is the handiwork of @vermileonhart and was included in the spooky new MIST1023 artpack collection.
Mistigram: Previously you saw his signature, and now here's his face -- so you now have everything you need to manufacture fake ID for #AntonChekhov. @dosdocone won first prize for a suite of #ASCIIart screens about the writer's work at Moscow's recent "Demodulation 2023" demoparty. They were included in the recent MIST0823 artpack collection.
Mistigram: this hybrid #ANSIart / #ASCIIart piece, titled "And The River Runs Through My Veins", was drawn by @mavenmob and included in the recent MIST0823 artpack collection. The veins in question appear to be actual veins, but in this case the river looks to be a metaphor for the electronic flow of digital information through a CPU. Welcome to cyberspace!
Mistigram: Cthulu mocked up this late #ASCIIart entry for the last Blender improvised computer art contest, to flesh out the pack due to low participation (due to low promotion.) *NOTE: we are hosting another one this weekend!* The three topics competitors needed to weave together were BORG / PARKOUR / and WWIII. He ripped existing ASCII work (with credit) to collage this piece together, but the quick and dirty cocktail napkin sketch gets the idea across: Borg 0, Alligator 1.
General compo details at mistigris.org/blender/blend.html
See you in #blender on the EFNet IRC!
