A gigantic, galvanised ribbon folds in and out between the floors of this Antwerp office extension for metal refinery Umicore. Belgian firm Conix Architects completed the extension in 2009, which provides an entrance to the company’s nine-storey-high industrial plant.
Umicore is a global player in materials technology. A solid international group, but every inch a Belgian company, with four sites across the country.
It was a cold and breezy December afternoon with fast changing clouds running across the sky with a little hope for sunshine… until the Sun break through the clouds for a shot time. Nikon's vibration reduction is amazing. This is an exposure of 1/8 seconds at the focal length of 160mm, handheld while standing in a queue outside a restaurant, and there is no observable shake at all.
