Hard drive find from one of the most remote places in the American Southwest in new processing:
In the late afternoon, after 61 miles (98 km) of gravel road, we reached Toroweap Point on the north rim of the Grand Canyon. Before I set up the tent on the primitive campsite, I used the beautiful light to explore the area with the camera.

am späten Nachmittag erreichten wir nach 98 km Schotterpiste den Toroweap Point am Nordrand des Grand Canyon. Bevor ich das Zelt auf dem primitiven Campingplatz aufstellte nutzte ich das schöne Licht, um die Umgebung etwas mit der Kamera zu erkunden.

This offshoot of the Bogor Botanical Gardens was founded in 1862 to study mountain flora. The cinchona (a tropical tree belonging to the madder family) was first brought from South America in 1854 and later cultivated here. The collection now showcases 5,000 montane plants acquired from around the world. At an altitude of 1,200 meters, the serene pastures stretch more than 80 hectares and see cool temperatures averaging 18 degrees Celsius. The charming mountainside panorama adds to the tranquility. This is a gateway to the Gede-Pangrango National Park, Mount Gede and Mount Pangrango.

The site is located on the banks of River Jordan at 380 Meters Below Sea Level, just 5 miles North of the Dead Sea, the final destination of the river.
River Jordan gives the pilgrims and tourists alike the feeling of authenticity.
This site is considered a holy place as it is where Jesus Christ was baptized by John the Baptist an event that changed human history and marked the dawn of Christianity.
Also, there is a number of Churches in the area.
Worth visiting. better during cooler months to avoid the Jordan Valley high temperatures.

A panoramic view of Southampton water, Hythe and surrounding areas, there is so much to see in this image so don’t forget to zoom in and have a good look around. Some of the sites you can see are Fawley Refinery, Southampton docks and Hythe pier.

Sankt Wolfgang ist ein Ortsteil der Stadt Bad Griesbach im Rottal im niederbayerischen Landkreis Passau.
Der Legende nach soll sich der heilige Bischof Wolfgang von Regensburg auf seiner Wanderung ins Salzkammergut im Jahr 976 in dieser Gegend verirrt haben. Ein geworfenes Beil zeigte ihm den Weg aus dem Wald. An der Stelle, an der das Beil aufschlug, entstand die Wallfahrtskirche St. Wolfgang.
"Panoramic view of St.Wolfgang" Sankt Wolfgang is a district of the town of Bad Griesbach im Rottal in the Lower Bavarian district of Passau.
According to legend, Saint Bishop Wolfgang of Regensburg got lost in this area on his hike to the Salzkammergut in 976. A thrown ax showed him the way out of the forest. The pilgrimage church of St. Wolfgang was built on the spot where the ax struck.
I processed a few more photos from my vacation to Bryce so thought I may as well post another. I promise not to post another 25 of them:-))).
An early shot from this morning. We went out in search of migratory sparrows (LeConte's and Nelson's) with limited success, but the fall color was gorgeous and our typical winter sparrows (Swamp and Savannah) were out in quantity. This guy gave a nice peekaboo pose among the fall forbs. BK Leach Conservation Area
Pine siskins have been scarce to see in the area so far this season. Maybe these neat little winter visitors will be easier to find now that we have solid snow cover.

Unfortunately, the spruces on the Herikerberg and the surrounding area have been seriously affected by an insect called the European spruce bark beetle. The spruces have weakened after a storm in January 2018 and the subsequent dry summers of 2018 and 2019.
Under these circumstances the trees could not defend themselves well against the bark beetle plague, which caused the death of trees on a large scale.
The affected dead trees are removed for safety and to prevent further spread of the bark beetle.
The felled forests will be replanted and will continue to be maintained as forest.
Helaas zijn de fijnsparren op de Herikerberg en omgeving ernstig aangetast door een insect, genaamd de letterzetter (een kever). De fijnsparren zijn na een storm van januari 2018 en de daarop volgende droge zomers van 2018 en 2019 verzwakt.
Onder deze omstandigheden konden de bomen zich niet goed verweren tegen de letterzetterplaag waardoor op grote schaal bomen zijn afgestorven.
De aangetaste en dode bomen worden weggehaald uit veiligheid en om verdere verspreiding van de letterzetter tegen te gaan.
De gekapte bossen zullen weer opnieuw worden ingeplant en gewoon verder als bos in stand worden gehouden.

Waiting a long time for earthquake repairs and strengthening
Audubon’s Oriole is primarily a species of both coasts of Mexico, with a small population in southern Texas, USA. This individual was seen at the Salineno Birding Area near the Rio Grande, in keeping with a preference for riparian areas.
The East Entrance Road curves around the base of Lake Butte as it approaches the shores of Yellowstone Lake. A wildfire in 2003 burned the forest in the Lake Butte area which accounts for the burned trees at the bend in the road.
Another from the fern strewn area in Hillock Wood where the sparse conifers share their space with juvenile beech and holly. Made more magical when there is mist in the air :)
A friend captured this Hawk with his phone camera. The hawk had swooped down and captured a squirrel to feed upon high in this tree. My friend said he was honored to get this shot. This bird of prey was “Watching The Area” intently when spotting the squirrel. Thanks for viewing this work. Stay kind.
