The Avant is a multi-use tower occupying an entire city block between Elmwood Ave and Delaware Ave in Buffalo, New York. It houses class A office space, and the Embassy Suites hotel, and luxury residential condominiums on the top three floors. When it was completed in 2009, the building housed the most expensive group of condominiums ever built in the Buffalo metropolitan area. The building's remodeling is the largest recycling project in Western New York history.

Originally called the Thaddeus J. Dulski Federal Building, it was sold in April 2007 for $6.1 million and began renovated for $83 million. It is the 22nd tallest building in Buffalo.

The Playfair Monument honours Scottish scientist John Playfair. It is one of the less photographed of Calton Hill's monuments. It was designed by the Scientist's nephew, a prominent city architect who also designed the adjacent observatory. It was constructed in 1825. Edinburgh, Lothian, UK.

Looking back from whence we entered the "Crescent House" we see how the architect has played with darkness, light and geometry. Unfortunately the charred cedar is easily marked, but those little holes create the impression of starlight against a night sky.

Seidenweberhaus

Architects Max Sippel / Bruno Trubert* / Rolf Klein / Manfred Oppmann / Otmar Nentwig, 1972–1976

Krefeld, Germany

"Angular geometric shapes like the hexagon seem to dominate the building of the event centre. Floors lie irregularly on top of each other and are supported by pillars. Projections and recesses alternate and create galleries. Concrete panels design the façade and their flattened edges make them almost round. Horizontal bands of windows design the individual floors and give the building a more tranquil appearance.

Scheduled for demolition, however there is a temporary extension to using the current building. There are plans for a new city hall on the site." (www.sosbrutalism.org/cms/15802395#15931369)

"Silk City Gallery

After almost five decades, the Seidenweberhaus has come to the end of the road: the days of the striking concrete block on Theaterplatz are numbered, the demolition is a done deal. But before heavy machinery rolls in, around 30 international street artists use the building as an impetus and inspiration for their work. From Tuesday 20th to Sunday 25th July [2021], they decorate it from all sides as "Silk City Gallery" with murals, graffiti and 3D art.

[...] The farewell to a building is celebrated that has accompanied the city society for a long time. The place lends itself to an artistic exploration, precisely because it so clearly calls for new impulses.

The artists come from Krefeld and the region as well as from countries such as Spain, Italy, Canada, Mexico and the Ukraine."

Erected in 1928-33, this outstanding Art Deco railroad terminal and bus station was designed by architects Alfred Fellheimer and Steward Wagner. It features mosaic murals by artist Winold Reiss. The structure stands at 1301 Western Avenue and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. In 1977 it was designated a National Historic Landmark.

Located at the confluence of the Licking and Ohio rivers in the southwest corner of Ohio, Cincinnati is an historically significant riverport and the anchor of one of the largest metropolitan areas in the Midwestern and Southern U.S. It serves as the seat of Hamilton County, and as of 2020, is the third largest municipality (designated as a city) in Ohio. The southern portion of the metro area extends into northern Kentucky, while the east extends into southeastern Indiana, making Cincinnati an economic hub for three states.

Have you ever wondered where iconic video games such as EA Sports FC (FIFA), Madden NFL, Need For Speed, and Plants vs Zombies are created? The answer is at this amazing EA Campus complex in beautiful Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada.

I was commissioned to recreate the entire complex in LEGO including the EA Capture Lab, EA Sports Campus, and the iconic EA Soccer pitch, Basketball Court, and Volleyball Court. The actual complex was designed in two phases by MCM Architects. I spent a month recreating the site in LEGO. It was quite a challenging model to design due to the elevation changes and many complex angles in the buildings as well as the overall size of the complex.

At the model reveal I had the honor of presenting a talk showcasing my artistic journey so far creating with LEGO in the main EA Theater and online to many of the video game designers. It was an amazing experience and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting many of the talented designers!

The LEGO model is on permanent display at the EA Campus in Burnaby BC.

Ages by an architectural progression, this place has a hospital function. François RABELAIS was appointed (1532) doctor there with around twenty nuns. Soufflot is building the current building which in 2015 became a luxury hotel, an office and retail offering as well as a city of gastronomy.

Wikipedia: HSB Turning Torso is a Deconstructivist skyscraper in Malmö, Sweden, located on the Swedish side of the Öresund strait.[1] It was designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava and officially opened on 27 August 2005. The tower reaches a height of 190 metres (623 feet) with 54 stories. Upon completion, it was the tallest building in Scandinavia,[The tower's design is based on a sculpture by Calatrava called Twisting Torso. It uses nine segments of five-story pentagons that twist as it rises; the topmost segment is twisted ninety degrees clockwise with respect to the ground floor. Each floor consists of an irregular pentagonal shape rotating around the vertical core, which is supported by an exterior steel framework. The two bottom segments are intended as office space. Segments three to nine house 147 luxury apartments.

The building is not for public access. I couldn't get into the building, so I took a lot of photos outside. It is surrounded by a posh neighborhood. The whole area is kinda of architects' playground.

Large View On Black

Architect P.L.

Street lamp in Amsterdam School style, designed for Amsterdam by P.L. Marnette in 1924. The two-lamp version was used mostly on traffic islands, while one 60 Watt incandescent lamp was standard. Especially in the wider streets of the modern suburbs, this lighting was very poor, until the armatures were replaced in the 50s and 60s by a new model with mercury vapour lamp

the architect of what it's wondered

roaming the playing fields

and stamping the corns

fighting for the urban corner

spreading the disease of the metropolis

overpoulated armies of flats and apartments soon to rise immune to non profit vaccinations

echoing the high rise blocks of an old decaying past

why are they building just round this corner

on a kids playground I ask

there seems such an abundance of better space

yet the architect decides and who am I to question his madness

My take on architect Jean Nouvel’s “100” residential building on Eleventh Avenue in New York. The slightly different vertical angles of the windows create a wonderful variety of hues. Together with its curved surface the building altogether reminds of a sparkling river. A genuine jewel to the New York skyline.

The Musée d'Orsay is housed in the former Gare d'Orsay, a Beaux-Arts railway station built between 1898 and 1900. The museum contains the largest collection of impressionist and post-Impressionist masterpieces in the world, by painters such as Monet, Manet, Degas, Renoir, Cézanne, Seurat, Sisley, Gauguin, and Van Gogh.

The building was originally the Gare d'Orsay, a railway station constructed for the Chemin de Fer de Paris à Orléans and finished in time for the 1900 Exposition Universelle to the design of three architects: Lucien Magne, Émile Bénard and Victor Laloux. The building was repurposed by architects Pierre Colboc, Renaud Bardon, and Jean-Paul Philippon and the museum debuted in December 1986.
