1987-1991

This is a historic vehicle to me, a significant car in my automotive history, which frankly started rather late in my life. This is my first car. I got in 1987, and since it was my first, I liked it a lot. There was nothing special about it, just a reliable saloon with a 1.6 liter 75 bhp engine and rear wheel drive. This photo is taken during a vacation in the German Eiffel region in 1989, and was actually the beginning of the end for this car. While driving we suddenly heard a loud "clunk! " coming from the car. I stopped and looked, but couldn't see anything unusual. Later that day, when the window on the passenger side was opened, the glass slid down all at once in the door. We were able to close it again, but back home it turned out that the mechanism inside the door was broken because of rust. Rust... The biggest enemy of this car and it's ultimate demise when it was 11 years old. Structural underbody rust, which could only be fixed with an expensive repair - too expensive for this car and for me - meant that it could not pass the annual APK test anymore. I have to add that at that time I already had the white '89 Civic, so it was no tragedy. Nevertheless, it meant the end of a car that provided so many fine kilometers. The engine, which was ok, lived on a few years in my brother-in-law's car. He had the same car and shoehorned the engine in himself. It is a long time now since I saw a car like this one on the road.

But there is one addtional reason why the memory of this car is so special to me. It belonged to my late Dad before I had it. And my Dad gave it to me when he got his new car. Not that my father had money to burn, but this car somehow belonged to the family, and he didn't want to see it go in strange hands. And when he retired from his accounting job at the car dealer he worked at for over 30 years, his employer offered him a very good deal on a new car. Actually, he got it partially as 'thank you' present. So, there was no need to trade this car.

Giám sát sau đăng tải: Tiếp nhận phản hồi từ cộng đồng và xử lý các sự cố về link hoặc bảo mật trong vòng 24 giờ.
