Rumah Api Tumpat atau dikenali juga dengan nama Rumah Api Isyarat ini terletak berhampiran dengan kawasan stor keretapi tanah melayu di Tumpat. Bangunan ini berketinggian kira-kira 70 kaki dan ukur lilit di bahagian bawah 37'9. Rumah Api ini dibina menggunakan batu-bata dan berstruktur bulat, tirus keatas dan mempunyai tangga didalamnya serta memiliki tingkap.
Pembinaan rumah api ini telah dibina oleh pihak berkuasa pelabuhan (shahbandar) pada tahun 1900. Pembinaan rumah api ini dilakukan di Tumpat kerana pada masa itu, kawasan Tumpat merupakan sebuah bandar pelabuhan yang masyhur pada waktu itu kerana mempunyai kawasan perairan yang strategik bagi kemudahan para pedagang atau pelayar keluar masuk ke pelabuhan khususnya di waktu malam.
Pada masa kini, rumah api ini tidak lagi digunakan dan dijadikan sebagai bahan sejarah dan juga tontonan kepada masyarakat awam.

I volontari di Greenpeace hanno organizzato oggi attività di sensibilizzazione in 21 città italiane per chiedere il bando dei pesticidi dannosi per api e altri impollinatori, l’estensione del bando europeo ai neonicotinoidi e investimenti in pratiche agricole sostenibili. Indossando dei costumi, i volontari dell’organizzazione ambientalista hanno inoltre rappresentato le api costrette a lasciare il loro habitat naturale per colpa dei pesticidi che mettono a rischio la loro sopravvivenza.

Despite being "blonde," this is apparently the same species as all the other Honey Bees in the area; curiously many of the swarm found visiting the blossoms of the particular blackberry patch where this one was seen were also very pale.

The Apis was considered to be a manifestation of the Memphite creation god Ptah; it was the 'soul (Ba) Ptah' and 'herald (whm) of Ptah'. The bull was therefore a kind of servant, who was himself divine. Sometimes, it was shown to the populace; during this procession, its walk was considered to be the blessing of the country.
When the Apis died, it was buried in a necropolis at Saqqara, which was first used by Nebmaatra Amenhotep III (1391-1353). The died bull had become identical to the god of the Underworld, Osiris. Therefore, he was known as Osiris-Apis. During the reign of the Ptolemaic kings (323-30 BCE), the god Osirapis or Serapis became the most important god of Egypt.
The Apis is usually depicted as a black bull with, between his horns, a sun disk and an uraeus snake.

Questa è l'essenza di uno studio pubblicato da Greenpeace International - presentato oggi a Roma presso il ristorante Open Colonna (Roof garden Palazzo delle Esposizioni) - che integra ricerca scientifica e esperienza pratica di agricoltori e imprenditori che ormai applicano la moderna agricoltura sostenibile in tutta Europa. Durante la presentazione, lo chef Antonello Colonna ha presentato alcuni suoi piatti realizzati con ingredienti che dipendono dall'impollinazione delle api. Questi insetti infatti non si limitano a produrre miele, come molti pensano. Un terzo del cibo che mangiamo e la maggior parte della flora spontanea dipendono dalla loro opera di impollinazione.

LA SCIAMATURA DELLE API
La sciamatura naturale è uno degli eventi piu' amati e odiati allo stesso tempo dagli apicoltori .
Tramite la sciamatura si ha una divisione della famiglia che comporta sia un aumento di famiglie (ovviamente se lo sciame viene recuperato) sia una compromissione di un eventuale raccolto da parte della famiglia di origine.
La sciamatura è un fenomeno naturale grazie al quale si perpetra il mantenimento della specie, è logico quindi, che tutte le famiglie sono soggette a tale evento (anche se vi sono dei rimedi che vedremo in seguito.); esso si manifesta, solitamente, a cavallo della primavera, periodo in cui vi è il massimo raccolto (cosa che aiuterà sia il ceppo che lo sciame a riprendersi): la regina rallenta la deposizione, le celle di fuco sono pronte allo sfarfallamento, la popolazione dell'alveare è numerosissima (60 / 80 mila api), vengono costruite innumerevoli celle reali
Ci si trova davanti ad una vera e propria "febbre sciamatoria" che comportera' , alla schiusa della prima cella reale la dipartita della vecchia regina assieme ad un cospicuo numero di operaie adulte (in prevalenza bottinatrici); questo gruppetto (si fa per dire : 10 /20 mila api) uscira' in una bella giornata e nelle prime ore del mattino, si fermerà temporaneamente nei pressi dell'apiario, il piu' delle volte su un ramo o tronco poco alto (un paio di metri generalmente) il tempo di questa momentanea permanenza e' soggettivo e va da qualche ora ad anche un paio di giorni , in realta' lo sciame attende solo che le proprie esploratrici tornino con le informazioni per una nuova definitiva dimora .
