Apis mellifera worker (Hym. Apidae) foraging on the male flowers of the oil palm, Elaeis guineensis (Arecaceae), 15.vi.2009, Yabi (DRCongo)
A lovely honey bee, Apis mellifera, stands ready for take-off. She will start her day gathering nectar and pollen for the hive. Newly emerged honey bees have more hair on their thorax while older bees have a shiny thorax - appears this little girl is new to the world. Welcome! She will probably only live about 6 to 8 weeks due to working so hard for the honey flow. In the winter time, they can live longer due to less work.

This bronze bull served as a votive offering. This sculpture was probably commissioned by a wealthy worshiper and would have impressed the god to whom it was offered.

Apis is the Latin name for bee and today, an epithet for the scientific names of many species around the world.
This photo was (almost) accidental. The primary intention was the cherry blossom, but the bee came suddenly. I tried to relocate to capture the image of the flight, with several other shots. The best picture that emerged was that in which I did not expect the movement of the insect.
Anyway, this is one of the images taken during the Feast of the Flowering Cherry, Sakura Matsuri, organized by the local Japanese community.

That's a question I tried to answer on Quora a few months ago and then update it by answering it on my blog.
I've built the video APIs icon by modeling it on the Programmable Web's logo, hooked with FaceTime logo and the recording rectangle we are used to as the Play button on movies.
