A different color for space alien santa_sangre.
Lightpainting details: I painted with my gen3baby board connected to a 1 meter strip of APA102 LEDs over a 55 second exposure. With smoke from a smoke machine.
santa_sangre the Fire Goddess. From our socially-distanced shoot at the Dragon. With hair like hers, you know she's got fire goddess in her.

santa_sangre is totally great to work with, even if she is a space alien in a silver spacesuit. Space aliens have the same needs and desires that humans do. She even bent over backwards to make sure our shoot went smoothly!

I have yet to photograph anyone actually underwater. I've photographed mylittleecho in my presently-off-limits-for-shoots home studio and lit it just right with my studio strobes to make her look underwater and then did a little bit of photoshop. I've photographed mylittleecho and santa_sangre on the beach. I've done some underwater lightpaintings with careful use of glowire. And now, I've got a fourth way: the Pacifica pattern from FastLED on my light staff.
The Pacifica pattern is one of the samples from FastLED and it's got a history because one of the two people who started the library passed away suddenly, so his co-creator made a memorial pattern. It's a beautiful scintillating pattern.

I really didn't have *any* idea about how all of these were going to turn out. I built some wrapper code that lets me manage patterns with some consistency and I used some of the example patterns that come with FastLED and then wrote some of my own. But there's a lot of ways that this could have ended up with me apologizing to @santa_sangre for wasting a bunch of time and I'm glad that I got lucky enough that I didn't.

santa_sangre seems to have a bunch of brainwaves in common with me. I did ask if there was a smoke machine to use, which I used to bloom the light a bit more. But I didn't ask for her to bring metallic mylar sheeting or a metallic outfit, but that led us in some very interesting direction.

santa_sangre is going to remove all of your organs and take them to your alien ship.

santa_sangre and the fourth way of making people look underwater without photographing underwater after studio-lights-and-photoshop, standing-on-the-beach, and glowire.
I'm not actually averse to photographing people underwater. If the situation arose, I'd totally buy a case for my camera and do it. It's just that the situation hasn't yet arose.

More of space alien santa_sangre!
A day or two before the shoot, I glanced at the can of aersol-can haze spray and thought that might be fun. But then I remember all of the fun that has been had at the Dragon with smoke machines and messaged santa_sangre to ask if there was a machine we could use, so she brought hers. And then it sat there for a while unused until the second part of the shoot.

More from the socially-distanced shoot with santa_sangre at the Dragon. The staff has been sitting unused for months now waiting for me to set up a shoot with someone I've already photographed (in case it turns out to be a giant freaking disaster) where we could do it safely.
I like the sheet of light I got out of this. I am also amused that, as always, we share many brainwaves because the striped outfit works quite well here.

This pattern of stars didn't really work while she was on the lyra, so I saved it for the floor show.
(And so, by some extraordinary coincidence, fate, it seemed, had decided that Anna should keep an appointment with their the star pattern But it was to be in a situation which none of them would have possibly foreseen... What further indignities were she to be subjected to? And what of the floor show that is spoken of? In an empty theater? In the middle of the night? What diabolical plan had been shaped by Ken's crazed imagination? What indeed? From what had gone before, it was clear that this was to be no picnic.)
And now... the floor show. From my socially distanced shoot with @santa_sangre at the Dragon.
(Apologies are extended to RHPS, of course)

Last photo from the session with santa_sangre. So glad we could make a socially-distanced shoot happen. I'd photographed her and coccolithoforest on 2020-02-02 and then there was a circus show and shortly thereafter we were all locked down. So I might have gone a year between light painting.

Space alien santa_sangre again, with another pattern that worked better in the floor show than aerial.
