In part as an antidote to the dark days of December and to the onset of Christmas, I thought I would retrieve from the archives a few mixed travel shots to post this month. I did the same thing last December; I think I visited eight countries. It will be interesting to see how many countries I can fit in before the end of the year, but it will be more than eight.

The first stop will be in the city of Fes, Morocco. We visited Fes in March 2005. The Al-Attarine Madrasa is a madrasa near the Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque. It was built by the Marinid sultan Uthman II Abu Said in 1323-5. The madrasa takes its name from the Souk al-Attarine, the spice and perfume market. It is considered one of the highest achievements of Marinid architecture due to its rich and harmonious decoration and its efficient use of limited space.

This one is from 2019 taken at Dutch Lake in Clearwater, British Columbia . We had been staying in the Wells Grey Park , and while it is very beautiful but does rather lack facilities . The previous evening we had a meal so bad it is still unforgettable. We were determined to find something better though it did mean a long drive out of Wells Grey to the little town of Clearwater. The Painted Turtle restaurant was excellent, good food and we could sit and watch the light fade over Dutch Lake . I checked it out yesterday and it looks like its still going strong

Thought I’d take another shot at a Still Life. The Mrs. has been staying at the hospital with her brother who is severely ill. I’m dog sitting our pooch and not getting out much. All that said, I’m doing much better than those folks suffering from the effects of Hurricane Helene. My thoughts are with all those who are suffering today.

An antidote for the awful weather just now - Common Tern at Playa de Muro, Mallorca

An antidote to yesterday's monochrome spookiness.

A bit short of time and ideas today, after spending a day in Edinburgh with my nearly-nine-year-old daughter and four of her friends as a birthday treat. I don't know about them but I'm exhausted!

Where ever poison ivy is growing there may also be an antidote to it, Jewelweed, close by.

HMM...

Another Kingfisher (Alcedo atthis) shot that is languishing on my hard drive. Cropped a bit. Worked through January and February of this year last night and this morning and cleared about 1G of memory of substandard shots. I really need to be ruthless more often!
