Coming off the Columbia glacier. You can just make out the bowl feature of the North Andromeda glacier. These are mountaineering students with Yamnuska returning from a week long mountaineering trip. This is also a possible descent route off any of the North bowl routes and skyladder. I did descend this way once with Mark Klassen. I remenber that there would be some serious avalanche hazard under certain conditions.

After some time waiting for some decent cloud free skies, my final image (for now...) of the M31, Andromeda Galaxy.

This is 60+ images "stacked" together using "Siril" software and applying "dark", "Bias" and "Flat" calibration frames in Siril.

Images were taken on a Fujifilm X-T4 with the Fuji 100-400mm lens and 1.4x tele-converter mounted on a Sky-Watcher HEQ5 telescope mount (back garden - Bortle 4).

"Light" images taken using 60 second exposures at F8.0 and ISO 2,500.

The stacked image was then processed in Photoshop to bring out colour and contrast even further.

She looks so much better when she's in brighter clothes ^_^

Andromeda Redux

By Thomas Spanos

2014 Horns and Heroes Project

Andromeda was created as a private garden by local botanist Iris Bannochie in 1954. This five acre haven, perched on a cliff overlooking the east coast, has grown to become one of the most acclaimed botanic gardens in the region.

Now run by the Barbados National Trust, the property boasts a stunning orchid collection, as well as shrubs, palms, ferns, succulents and many other flowering plants, including brightly coloured waxy heliconia.

The garden trail takes you past banks of Rose of Sharon trees, Frangipani, Flamboyant, and superb Cycads. There is the rare Bombax Ellipticus, the shaving brush tree and a wide selection of palms.

One of the first nights since May or June that had low humidity, no moon (yet), and not cloudy. Thus say hello to M33, better known as the Andromeda Galaxy.
