At about 1:30 P.M., on Friday, July 2, San Jose Fire received reports of a balcony on fire that was spreading to the roof of an apartment complex. County Engine 11 reported heavy smoke visible from the Fire Station driveway and upon arrival request a second alarm. Within 15 minutes, San Jose Battalion 10 struck a third alarm. The fire damaged several units in the involved building, but it was quickly contained to the one building - a concern since there are a lot of tightly packed wooden buildings in the complex.
The fire started on the ground floor balcony where children playing with a sparkler accidentally ignited a sofa.
AMR Field Supervisor, Medic 121 was on scene to assist with fire fighter rehab.
Aaaand - my Rose Thrill Hill after my last Bikepacking Race - the Atlas Mountain Race. Photos at the finish in Sidi Rabat just before giving it a first wash. Now part 2, the landscape format shots.
As I’ve written: extremely satisfied with the performance of the bike and my modifications, hacks and bodges for the race. Not a single mechanical throughout the race.
Another Topeak Ninja Cage for below the down tube makes it 3 for the whole bike. And the Power2Max powermeter with a Wolftooth 32 tooth chainring and XTR cranks. Looks pretty nasty in that baked in dust but worked like a charm. Minor niggles with the P2M spider: I had to source extra short chainring bolts and even shorten them some more as the recommended and also sold by P2M bolts wouldn’t lead to a proper mounted chainring. Loved the pedals also.
Goes well with the Morocco theme. Everything is tone in tone and predominantly ochre. ;-)
AMR Paramedic Bryan Stow suffered a head injury leaving a San Francisco Giants LA Dodgers basebal game in Los Angelese. Recently AMR Santa Clara held a fund raiser BBQ to help with expenses for his family.
Both the public and the emergency services community got together with an overwhelming show of support. AMR representative from around the bay area, together with a variety of other Ambulance service providers, fire departments and police departments from around the bay were on hand.
