Part deux of my adventure with the Zenitar fisheye on the F3. It's a wonderfully different way to experience the image, and like large format makes on stop to think and slow down, all of which is part of the process. Thanks to all of the flicker-masters who continue to inspire.

My son, unaware of my camera, mouth open with no sound, stands on a rock overlooking an extensive valley below. I love the assertiveness of his posture--but wish he'd pull his pants up! Taken at Potts Mountain Wayside in Craig County, Virginia. The map location is close but still guesswork. It's a small wayside, in existence from 1938 to the present; there was no marker to indicate the location (or we missed it).

A super faint edge-on disk galaxy, and somewhat of an enigma. How it formed like this and how its frontal morphology might appear are subject to speculation, but chances are if we saw it from a sufficiently inclined vantage point, it would be practically invisible beyond its nucleus, assuming what we see is spread out fairly evenly along the disk and not concentrated along some very skinny arms.
Anyway, I'm happy to simply enjoy yet another wonderful variation that nature has given us.

Every time I visit I see something different - I am very lucky to capture some Raptors - these all pretty much happen by accident. One was scared off by a dog that was walking up behind me and I caught him in flight. The one perched is actually looking at the dog coming his way. Caught underside of an owl - I think great horned or burrowing owl flying over head.

This unique 1,769-acre property contains pristine farm and grasslands, ridges, a seasonal freshwater lake, ponds, wetlands, and many other natural resources. It provides habitat for several species of special status including the burrowing owl, California red-legged frog, northwestern pond turtle, golden eagle, white tailed kite, horned lark, northern harrier, and the tricolor blackbird. Interesting faint arm or tidal stream feature encircling this one like a halo. Looking at DSS data to see the surrounding sky, I don't see any obvious interaction partners. I suppose this is a late stage of some kind of interaction, and all galaxies involved have now merged. I wonder if some kind of small, diffuse galaxy could interact in such a way that it got pulled around nearly into a circle like this. If that were the case, then this would be more of a middle stage than an end stage. Anyway, that's just a lot of speculation.
I was interrupted in the middle of processing this by a rather large earthquake.
