The #PakistanMonument in Islamabad, Pakistan, is a #nationalmonument representing the nation's four provinces and three territories. The blooming flower shape of the monument represents Pakistan's progress as a rapidly developing country. The four main petals of the monument represent the four provinces (Balochistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Sindh), while the three smaller petals represent the three territories (Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas). The Monument has been designed to reflect the culture and civilization of the country and depicts the story of the Pakistan Movement, dedicated to those who sacrificed themselves for future generations.

From air the monument looks like a star (center) and a crescent moon (formed by walls forming the petals), these represent the star and crescent on Pakistan's flag.

The monument is located at the west viewpoint of the #Shakarparian Hills, and is spread over a total area of 2.8 hectares. The high location makes the monument visible from across the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The foundation stone was laid on 25 May 2004 and the complex was completed by the end of 2006 for inauguration on 23 March 2007. The total cost incurred was more than Rs.580 million.

The structure comprises four blossoming flower petals, built of granite, representing the unity of #Pakistani people. The inner walls of the petals are decorated with murals. The central platform is made in the shape of a five-pointed star which is surrounded by a water body. Sunset is the best part of the day for me .Sometimes you have a sense of achievement and sometimes you just feel that you haven't achieved what you intended at the start of the day ,sometimes you never want sun to set and at other times you wait for this time eagerly ....

Today was another day when i felt that i have done a lot of commendable things and hope that every sun set brings the same sense of achievement !!!

The Thought

مسجد تو بنا دی شب بھر میں ایمان کئ حررارت والوں نے

من اپنا پرانا پاپی ہے برسوں میں نمازی بن نہ سکا

Masjid to banadi shab bhar mein imaan ke hararat walon ne

man apna purana papi hay barson mein namazi ban na saka

Translation :"Those with fervor in their faith built the mosque in a night, but the heart is sinful and did not prostrate in years."

We find that the number of mosques is growing everywhere. The number of Muslims going to mosques is also increasing. The number of Muslims performing the annual pilgrimage increases every year, and in fact, has to be controlled to restrict the number. The number of Muslim organizations has been growing steadily. Whenever some differences arise among Muslims in one organization, they create another one and build another mosque. Noticing such an abundance of religious fervor among Muslims, Iqbal was led to say this verse.

In spite of all the speeches and the sermons exhorting Muslims to unite, we see that the result is disappointing, to say the least. Why is that? The only way to diagnose this problem is to find the root cause according to Iqbal.

We will have to go deeper into our hearts to find out the root cause of our problems. If we look only at the outside, then just like a tree, we will see its trunk, the branches, and the leaves. And if the roots have become infected with a disease, no matter how strong the rest of the tree is, sooner or later it is going to die. Actually, its demise may be hastened even by a moderate wind. No amount of nourishment given to the branches and leaves will help prevent its final demise.

Obviously, the source to which we must turn to find out the root cause of the problem must provide the necessary guidance to diagnose it. According to Iqbal, the necessary guidance to diagnose all our (not just Muslims’ but entire humanity’s) ills is contained in the Qur’an.

The Shot

This shot was taken on my tour to Lahore in March 2010.

The story behind this mosque is that there was a clash between hindus and muslims of Lahore over a piece of land for the construction of a place of worship. Muslims thought that the land was their right and a mosque should be constructed. Hindus thought that the area was their right and a hindu mandir was to be constructed. The decision was pending when one night the muslim population within the darkness of one night raised a structure and poured the roof. Demolishing an already constructed mosque could be a disaster, the decision was given in the favour of muslims.

Authenticity of this narration needs to be confirmed as I am not aware of the complete facts . . .

- The Muslim world considers the era of Prophet Mohammad to be the greatest era and those who were in the company of Prophet Mohammad the most fortunate ones. Did they ever stop to think why were we not born in the era of Prophet Mohammad? Why were we not given the opportunity to be in the company of Prophet Mohamamd day and night? Why are we the unfortunate ones? Who is to blame for this?

- God could not send the entire humanity in the era of Prophet Mohammad. But then what about our misfortune? Why did we not get to see Prophet Mohammad when the Koran says that we will be shown the image of Prophet Mohammad in the grave. How will we recognise Prophet Mohammad's image if we have not seen him? This obviously means that seeing Prophet Mohammad was not confined to the people of his era.

- His Divine Eminence Imam Mehdi Gohar Shahi's teachings brought about the revolution which lifted the shadows of misfortune. It matters not which era you were born in as the physical company of Prophet Mohammad is not as important as the spiritual company. And Opening of the Spiritual Heart is the key to obtaining the spiritual company of Prophet Mohammad.

- If people raise slogans of the eternal life of Prophet Mohammad, why are they not seeking the company of Prophet Mohammad? Prophet Mohammad's spiritual company, as it was in his era, is still available and attainable today.

- Koran says the following era of Prophet Mohammad will be greater than his current era. A prophetic tradition narrates that Imam Mehdi (as) will be identical in appearance to Prophet Mohammad. And when the companions asked Prophet Mohammad to describe Imam Mehdi, it was as if he was describing himself. Those who seek the love and company of Prophet Mohammad will only find it in the court of HDE Imam Mehdi Gohar Shahi.

Its a Pakistani flag design with Pakistan national anthem, four privences of Pakistan, Panjab, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtounkhwa and Sindh also with Gilgit Baltistan Pakistan and the leaders and dreamers of Pakistan like Muhammad Ali jinnah, Allam Iqbal poet and Hazeef Jalandari who wrote the national anthem of Pakistan, syed Ahmed Khan. The idea was generated in my mind while I was busy in watching different type of Pakistani flag. I made this design on Photoshop in 3 hours.

Pakistan’s most prestigious journalism “Agahi Awards 2013” celebrated today at PNCA Islamabad. The Awards have been organized in collaboration with leading press clubs, local and international media development institutions, regulatory authorities, civil society organizations, private sector and other stakeholders. Puruesh Chaudhary Founder & President, AGAHI and Amir Jahangir Chief Executive Officer, Mishal Pakistan founded these awards in 2012.

The Agahi Awards are an annual series of awards for journalism in Pakistan, developed under the umbrella of the Credibility Lab at Mishal for creating an appreciation methodology for ethical and quality content. The Agahi Awards are an annual series of awards for journalism in Pakistan, developed under the umbrella of the Credibility Lab at Mishal for creating an appreciation methodology for ethical and quality content. These categories are on the basis of people’s choice, which includes voting for these two categories by reaching out to more than 6 million Pakistanis through social media engagement and 1.5 million via SMS campaign and direct feedback.

GEO NEWS won the Peoples’ Choice Award for the “Most Favourite News Channel” second year around.

The “Current Affairs Anchor of the Year” Award was for two emerging anchors; won by Iqrar ul Hassan (ARY News) and Alia Nazki (BBC Urdu), as “the Emerging Current Affair Anchor of the Year” in the male and female categories. “Investigative Journalist of the Year” award was won by Asad Kharal (Express Tribune).

Ejaz Haider from Capital TV awarded the “Most Credible Anchor” based on the Media Credibility Index developed in collaboration with more than 10 journalism schools in Pakistan.

To ensure diversity in content and more social issues to be highlighted in media, Mishal Pakistan in collaboration with Save the Childrencreated the health category further dividing them into six sub-categories. This has not only increased the quantum of health content in media, but has also encouraged journalists to write more on the socio-economic challenges in Pakistan.

This year AGAHI Awards received an overwhelming response by the journalist community, where more than 1500 nominations were received from all over the country across more than 50 different categories in print, television, radio and online content.

These categories are on the basis of people’s choice, which includes voting for these two categories by reaching out to more than 6 million Pakistanis through social media engagement and 1.5 million via SMS campaign and direct feedback.

GEO NEWS won the Peoples’ Choice Award for the “Most Favourite News Channel” second year around.

The “Current Affairs Anchor of the Year” Award was for two emerging anchors; won by Iqrar ul Hassan (ARY News) and Alia Nazki (BBC Urdu), as “the Emerging Current Affair Anchor of the Year” in the male and female categories. “Investigative Journalist of the Year” award was won by Asad Kharal (Express Tribune).

Ejaz Haider from Capital TV awarded the “Most Credible Anchor” based on the Media Credibility Index developed in collaboration with more than 10 journalism schools in Pakistan.

To ensure diversity in content and more social issues to be highlighted in media, Mishal Pakistan in collaboration with Save the Childrencreated the health category further dividing them into six sub-categories. This has not only increased the quantum of health content in media, but has also encouraged journalists to write more on the socio-economic challenges in Pakistan.

This year AGAHI Awards received an overwhelming response by the journalist community, where more than 1500 nominations were received from all over the country across more than 50 different categories in print, television, radio and online content.

Pakistan’s most prestigious journalism “Agahi Awards 2013” celebrated today at PNCA Islamabad. The Awards have been organized in collaboration with leading press clubs, local and international media development institutions, regulatory authorities, civil society organizations, private sector and other stakeholders. Puruesh Chaudhary Founder & President, AGAHI and Amir Jahangir Chief Executive Officer, Mishal Pakistan founded these awards in 2012.

The Agahi Awards are an annual series of awards for journalism in Pakistan, developed under the umbrella of the Credibility Lab at Mishal for creating an appreciation methodology for ethical and quality content. The evaluation methodology and criteria of the awards have been designed on the pillars of Media Development Indicators of UNESCO, in collaboratiosn with the Center for International Media Ethics (CIME) and UNESCO headquarters in Paris. The Awards were inaugurated in March 2012 and have become the most prestigious awards for the journalism in Pakistan.

The awards ceremony was presented by Osama Bin Javaid, a Pakistani journalist based in the Middle East and Razeshta Sethna, par of the editorial team at a leading English language publication in Pakistan. The Awards also have special categories including“Current Affairs Anchor of the Year” and “News Channel of the Year” in Pakistan. These categories are on the basis of people’s choice, which includes voting for these two categories by reaching out to more than 6 million Pakistanis through social media engagement and 1.5 million via SMS campaign and direct feedback.

GEO NEWS won the Peoples’ Choice Award for the “Most Favourite News Channel” second year around.

The “Current Affairs Anchor of the Year” Award was for two emerging anchors; won by Iqrar ul Hassan (ARY News) and Alia Nazki (BBC Urdu), as “the Emerging Current Affair Anchor of the Year” in the male and female categories. “Investigative Journalist of the Year” award was won by Asad Kharal (Express Tribune).

Ejaz Haider from Capital TV awarded the “Most Credible Anchor” based on the Media Credibility Index developed in collaboration with more than 10 journalism schools in Pakistan.

To ensure diversity in content and more social issues to be highlighted in media, Mishal Pakistan in collaboration with Save the Childrencreated the health category further dividing them into six sub-categories. This has not only increased the quantum of health content in media, but has also encouraged journalists to write more on the socio-economic challenges in Pakistan.

This year AGAHI Awards received an overwhelming response by the journalist community, where more than 1500 nominations were received from all over the country across more than 50 different categories in print, television, radio and online content.
