I Went down to Chemical Beach on Sunday morning as the tide was about right for the croc (disused outflow pipe, I take photos of the most glamorous things ;-p). First thing was another TOG making his way back up from the beach, perhaps he knew something I didn't but more likely he had learned that the Wheels can only be seen at low tide. Secondly the sand and shale that has been stripped from the main beach at Seaham by the recent tidal surges appeared to have turned up here covering most of what I wanted to photograph. Undaunted I soldiered on and concentrated on the small amount of the croc that was visible. I remained optimistic as all the ingredients looked to be in place for a fine colourful sunrise, clear horizon, plenty of overhead cloud but somehow it just didn't happen. One soaking later I headed back up on what was a remarkably colourless dawn. I confess I've enhanced the blueness of this shot and performed a bit of dodging and burning to enhance what tones were present as the original RAW file was as gray and dull as a dull gray thing.
