To be continued....

5/25 Sculpt update on the droid AL1-L3 "Allie" - Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker - 1:18 scale.

Sculpt using Aves FIXIT Sculpt. A two-part epoxy.

I have been working on scribing the helmet as well as building the front, removable breast plate.

The scribe detail on the helmet is still a work in progress and it’s isn’t 100% accurate due to the lack of reference images but I feel it’s enough for a figure at this scale.

The breast plate is a very delicate step, creating a rough shape of the plate and how it conforms to the body. While the epoxy cures, it’s removed several times from the body to trim down the excess for a better fit. The final step it to keep the final epoxy plate from curing to the figure itself. Once the tackiness of the epoxy has diminished, the sculpt can have some final adjustments made before allowing to fully cure. Several hours later, the sculpted plate can be removed and refined with a Dremel tool. At this point the piece is very delicate. Only after adding additional sculpt material to bring out detail can you take a breath while working with it.

Then I use very small magnets to attached the plate to the body. I should have some shot s of that in the next update.

Quick update but additional details to come! Happy to have an added feature of the plates being removable. Magnets are your friend!

More to come! Thanks for your continued interest!

12/21 Sculpt update on the droid AL1-L3 "Allie" - Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker - 1:18 scale.

Sculpt using Aves FIXIT Sculpt. A two-part epoxy.

Happy Holidays!!!

Details, details, details….working on details!

So the figure frame is completely sculpted over now with the bodysuit detail. Just using different textures to create an assortment of wires, technics etc. There’s nothing that needs to be precise at this scale. Most of body suit detail is a suggestion and most of it will be painted various shades of black.

I’ve started sculpting the hand plating detail as well as the knee plating in such a way to keep the knees articulated without “popping” the sculpt.

Added wiring detail to the interior of the droids dome (helmet). Finer wires will be added later.

Sculpted the eyes for a final time. Happy with how it turned out.

Added more detail to the chest plating. Began sculpting the foot plating.

Arms and leg plating to come soon. I don’t think I will have the plating removable as a feature. I’m also figuring weapons and soft goods tunic.

So some good progress made on this figure! I think the next update will have all the arm and leg plating complete, with a few additional details needed before the build is complete.

Thanks for checking it out! I appreciate your continued interest in my work!

11.6 Sculpt update on the droid AL1-L3 "Allie" - Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker - 1:18 scale.

Sculpt using Aves FIXIT Sculpt. A two-part epoxy.

Sculpting the limbs. Began some sculpt detail on the hands.

The base hands are from a store bought figure and are quite rubbery. This will allow me to sculpt over them using a bit of epoxy and super glue to achieve a flexibility that will adhere to the original sculpt. Meaning when I place a gun in the figures hand, the sculpt work will not pop off. It’s a tricky process but it works.

Working on completing the sculpt detail to the back of the figure’s upper torso. The back torso plating is non-removable.

I widened the center port of the eyes a bit. May go back and do a few more adjustments before creating a final cast of the rework.

Next is sculpting the feet…and the arm and leg plating.

Also more detail to the helmet cover. I have some antennae and additional wiring to add.

More to come! Thanks for checking this update out!

3/1 Sculpt update on the droid AL1-L3 "Allie" - Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker - 1:18 scale.

Sculpt using Aves FIXIT Sculpt. A two-part epoxy.

Sorry for the delay in updates! This particular figure needed a bit more work before a proper update could be made.

Please note the shots may show bits of dust and unrefined sculpt as this is a work in progress.

I wanted to show more of a whole instead of a piecemeal of several, similar updates featuring the same procedure which consists of texturizing and detail…something this figure requires much of from head to toe.

I still have so much detail to add to the “internals” of the droid before getting to its body plating for the chest, back, lower abdomen, arms, legs and feet.

The outer plating will be sculpted DIRECTLY to the figure and will not be removable. I tested the idea for removable plates but it hindered the slim look of the droid and gave the figure a “chunky” appearance. So unfortunately, some of the detail you see here will be lost.

The head is pretty much complete other than a few adjustments. Once those are made, I will mold and cast a sample so I can sculpt the droid’s helmet.

Other updates to come! Sculpting this weekend and excited for what’s to come! Stand by and thanks again for your continued interest in my work!

5/7 Sculpt update on the droid AL1-L3 "Allie" - Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker - 1:18 scale.

Sculpt using Aves FIXIT Sculpt. A two-part epoxy.

Working on the helmet.

I started with one of the plastic castings I made of the head sculpt (from a prior update).

Using one of the casts, I sculpted the helmet to fit the form. I didn’t go for any detail, just wanted to achieve a loose form of the helmet that I could refine once cured.

After the sculpt had cured, I dremeled out the plastic head cast, leaving only the rough sculpt of the helmet behind.

From there, I refined the sculpt using several grits of sandpaper and Dremel tools to smooth and thin out the interior.

What you see here is the end result. Still a little rough, but able to accept additional detailing and when complete, will have a magnet that will allow secure attachment to the head.

With the helmet closer to being completed, I realized that the head sculpt requires a few adjustments so I will be making those changes and hope to have both the hemet and updated head sculpt ready for additional molding and casting.

I’m really excited to see this figure slowly coming together. This will be a unique one for sure. Something I doubt Hasbro would ever consider producing.

Hope you enjoy the quick update and thanks for checking it out! More to come soon, including a first official build update of the Fondor Haulcraft from Andor. Working on the cockpit setup!

Sculpt update on both 1:18 Star Wars related figures of AL1-L3 “Allie” from Rise of Skywalker and Garsa Fwip from Book of Boba Fett.

More like a casting update rather than sculpting. I was able to successfully cast several samples of both head sculpts so I may continue the sculpts of Allie’s helmet and Garsa’s lekuu (head tails).

Once I get the head sculpts where I want them, I can continue with the rest of the body.

I have so many ideas for new Star Wars figures that I wish to begin work on…plus a starship to begin building…I love this hobby! ❤

1/23 Sculpt update on the droid AL1-L3 "Allie" - Star Wars: the rise of Skywalker - 1:18 scale.

Sculpt using Aves FIXIT Sculpt. A two-part epoxy.

A work in progress sculpt of the head.

The first image is kind of an ode to C3PO from the Phantom Menace showing the wires and such behind the face plating of the droid. This idea didn't last long as the additional layers of epoxy bonded too well to the sculpt, making it impossible to pry the sculpted face plate loose without breaking it. So this sculpt is lost unfortunately...not that I can't sculpt another one if I'd need to later

The remaining images are of the face plate. Adjustments need to be made - squaring off the chin and reducing the jaw a bit. It's a bit too round at this point. The interior place (where the nose and mouth would be) needs a bit more clay added. The back to he head, behind the plate, will contain wires, motors etc - plenty of detail.

The ocular lens detail has softened due to additional sculpting around them so I plant bring those details back before molding the final head sculpt. The helmet will be a separate sculpted piece.

Having fun with this character! Reminds me of the enjoyment when I was sculpting Furlag ❤ More updates to come! Thanks for your continued interest!
