A picture within a picture with a little touch of magic, perfect for the #FlickrFriday challenge.

Taken up the Dunning Glen near the Castlehil Reservoir. I thought this picturesque spot would be ideal for a framed picture of the river, so here it is :))

For this photo I used Moondark for the background on a tablet and a figural wine bottle stopper as the macro subject. The field of view is about 2 inches. This is similar to the technique I used for Queen for a Day.

I directed the room's lighting away and used the brightness from the moon on the tablet to make the illusion of darkening the wolf through contrast and the camera's light compensation.

Tiny flowers packed with magical fragrance. It’s finally starting to feel a little like spring.

Originally shot for this week's MM theme (first letter of my surname, M for money), I had also tagged the photo "magic", the word used by Mapplethorpe for the result of his selection process. "That's the one with the magic", he'd say, after reviewing the thumbnails on a contact sheet. As is usual for me, this image was one of many images shot for the theme. Often the one "with the magic" is near the end of the shoot, but sometimes, as with this one, it was captured in the middle of it, the early shots not quite getting it and the later ones going off in a bad direction. When I noticed this week's Flickr Friday theme in my feed this morning, I decided to add this image to that group as well.

On the first day of spring the Snow is melting and the sun is out. so it must be time for an impromptu parade through downtown Hartford. I would say it is a kind of magic as the seasons change.
