Yuki crouched in the middle of the rain-soaked street, her umbrella tilted just so, while her best friend Mika circled her with a camera.
"More melancholy!" Mika shouted over the downpour. "Think about... heartbreak! Loneliness! The crushing weight of existence!"
Yuki adjusted her pose, trying to look devastatingly beautiful and sad. This was for her dating app profile. Her last photo—smiling at a cat café—had gotten zero matches. Clearly, men wanted *mystery*. *Depth*. A woman who looked like she had a tragic backstory.
"Perfect! You look so alone, so vulnerable!" Mika clicked away enthusiastically.
A car suddenly screeched to a stop inches from Yuki. The driver rolled down his window. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING? THIS IS A STREET, NOT A PHOTO STUDIO!"
Yuki scrambled up, mortified, as other cars started honking. She and Mika ran to the sidewalk, splashing through puddles.
"Did you get the shot?" Yuki panted.
Mika checked her camera and started laughing hysterically. "Oh, I got it alright."
She turned the screen around. There was Yuki, looking appropriately tragic and cinematic... except in every single shot, there was a bright neon sign directly behind her that read: "KARAOKE - LADIES NIGHT - FREE DRINKS."
Yuki stared at it, then burst out laughing. "Well, forget the dating app. Let's go use that sign for its intended purpose!"
**They got free drinks all night. Yuki met her future husband at the karaoke bar. He loved her terrible singing.**
At the last New Moon, Silvia has sold the handsome young fellow a love potion.
His return on the Full Moon showed that it had worked, just not exactly the way he had intended it to.
