As the sun rose above the rocks of the Cataract Gorge the morning air was indeed sweet. Especially since it had been a while since I'd taken an early walk in the area. That smell of freshness is hard to describe, but it is closely allied to the feeling of freedom. I wish I could translate the bush smells to you via the camera, but you'll just have to use your imagination. All around the birds were singing.

[It's actually quite fun to double click and roam around this photo. There's lots to see.]

Well known by hearing aid users, Zinc Air batteries have tiny holes on their surface to allow exchange of air, required for the chemical process. Before use, the openings are kept hermetically air-tight by a sticker opercule.

Today the helicopters involved in the firefighting effort were parked at the airport in a nice lineup. Cooler weather and some rain have brought relief. Fire now 68% contained.

Normally, there is very little activity at the airport, so when I saw them all 3 lined up like that, I literally stopped walking and said to Blanca "Wow!" and just had to go home and grab my camera for a shot!!

Upon cresting Druim Shionnach, the second major peak on the Cluanie ridge if traversing from the east, this prospect of Aonach air Chrith & the ridge beyond should provide enough of an incentive to progress & explore.

This sunlight at this point was slowly being overcome by a slow-moving sheet of solid grey cloud. Indeed, this was just about my final decent photo the day - at 11.45am! (others were taken in the gloom for personal reasons but aren't good enough for Flickr.)

"I've acquired a kind of madness

Daylight fills my heart with sadness

Only silent skies can soothe me

Feel that night air flowing through me

In the night air

The night air".

I took this a few months ago as we headed off on a short road trip. The day was crystal clear around town when we left, but as we got into the plentiful pine forests that surround Mount Gambier, the atmosphere changed rapidly. This is just pine tree pollen! We do get our annual dose of it around town depending on the wind direction and it gets in everywhere. Our car inside a garage still gets a thin yellow layer overnight. The hay fever tablets get plenty of use too! Thankfully, the air cleared as soon as we left the forest area and we breathed easy once more.

Treppe auf Treppe runter, den ganzen Tag.
