This is the car of some boarders that live with a chap down the road. They'd parked on his new bridge (that has never gone under in previous floods), and alas, the water was a good 2m higher here than usual.

As you can see after being caught by the tree it got pretty smashed up.

Pretty amazing to think the creek you see here did that.

27/365 After the flood in the basement, we threw out most of what got soaked: books (including diaries from when I was 18 to about 30), drawings and notes from when the girls were little, lots of ephemera I've saved over the years (not to mention couches and vcrs and rugs). Daughter #2 decided to salvage a page here and there from lost books and papers, to make a collage out of. There's a huge stack of water-wrinkled paper, dry now, waiting for her imagination and creativity.

19 May 2014, inside the Capital Beltway. Last week's flood along the Potomac has subsided, but deep and sloppy mud still keeps hikers away. Deer, coyotes, feral dogs, racoons, foxes, muskrats and other mammals have evidently continued to use this trail along the Virginia riverbank.

A day or two after super storm Sandy, we found these cars and trucks lying in the dirt near our house. For some reason, I picked them up and put them in a plastic bag where they sat for over 7 months. Today I found them and took a closer look. I wonder who they belonged to.
