Following the passenger trains this morning on the Algoma Central was a rare daylight extra north, the reason the steel mill was expecting to go on strike and they emptied the yard of steel loads. Here a five unit beast of a train struggles upgrade out of Sault Ste. Marie with 117 cars mainly all steel loads of some kind heading for interchange with the CP at Franz or the CN at Oba - impressive for sure - August 4, 1990.
Resting in the enginehouse / shop off the covered turntable in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario is a Algoma Central GP38-2 and a couple GP7's resting between runs - August 6, 1989.
Not as sharp as I would like it to be. It was cold as hell, and I had no tripod.

A classic Algoma Central 28 car canyon train in your face as GP38-2 201 leads the pack. In the consist of note the first 4 cars are actually a pair of former Southern Pacific articulated coaches, here on a wonderful sunny fall day in Searchmont, Ontario on September 19, 1984.
East of Wawa, Ontario amid the smelter downwind moonscape is a sintered ore train for the Algoma Steel plant in Sault Ste. Marie. The official location of this Algoma Central train is Helen siding on the Michipicoten branch which ran west out of Hawk Junction on June 23, 1992. The smelter was later closed, with both it and this branchline being removed in the late 90's.
A southbound Algoma Central train works the Canadian National interchange at Oba, Ontario with clean GP7's 102 & 103 - September 5, 1993.
Dope ACR i saw as I left Souplantation. I talked to the owner and was surprised to find that he lives 2 minutes away from me. He had a bunch of carbon fibre work done to the interior that looked great. I loved this shot and editing because it was the first time I really used cloning. Feedback on the editing? Im not trying to be annoying but really do view it on black (L), it looks so much better. Thanks

With the train still steam heated the steam generator is blowing off excess the very cold morning of March 10, 1996 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario as the Algoma Central power of three cab units adds a GP7 to the consist of the Canyon train.
Making her station stop at Searchmont, Ontario, here the Algoma Central train to Hearst has plenty of business this day with a pair of geeps and noting the 104 looks old school and still does not have ditch lights - September of 1990.
