A relatively untypical work in as much as it comprises of many elements. Though for once I enjoyed the accumulative rather than reductive process of creativity.

Artwork for the DVD release of Stanley Kubrick's 1953 film, The Seafarers; which was made in order to finance Kubrick's first feature, Fear & Desire. This unique documentary about the Seafarers International Union, based at the time in Brooklyn, New York (now in MD) was thought lost for decades, but is now available for purchase at Amazon.com. It can also be rented at Netflix. Film is in color (28 mins). Audio-commentary from directors Keith Gordon (Mother Night, The Singing Detective, A Midnight Clear and TV's 'Dexter') and Roger Avary (Killing Zone, Rules of Attraction; also co-screenwriter for Pulp Fiction). Interview with Katherina Kubrick. NOTE: This film is coming to Blu-Ray in 2012! Kino Lorber to release The Early Films of Stanley Kubrick, which will include The Seafarers, Fear & Desire, Day of the Fight and The Flying Padre!

When we got outside of the Duke of New York we viddied by the main bar's long lighted window, a burbling old pyahnitsa or drunkie, howling away at the filthy songs of his fathers and going blerp blerp in between as though it might be a filthy old orchestra in his stinking rotten guts. One veshch I could never stand was that. I could never stand to see a moodage all filthy and rolling and burping and drunk, whatever his age might be, but more especially when he was real starry like this one was. He was sort of flattened to the wall and his platties were a disgrace, all creased and untidy and covered in cal and mud and filth and stuff. So we got hold of him and cracked him with a few good horrorshow tolchocks, but still he went on singing. The song went:
And I will go back to my darling, my darling,
When you, my darling, are gone.

繼blur的universal mv後又喚醒對屎丹利庫伯力克發條橘子的記憶，那畫單邊眼線的蒼白臉孔彷彿被昆汀邀請到"惡棍特工"裡和小布一起發狂似地耍壞大鬧二戰歷史的結局
拋開柏林攻防終戰中希特勒在地下掩體度過末日的厚重歷史，硬是活生生把他拉到巴黎轟爛腦袋，要這麼惡搞納粹頭子和黑死隊SS黨衛軍也是可以，而且很爽！彷彿納粹和猶太人角色互換，把殘虐對象授權套用在高貴的日耳曼條頓武士身上。
我喜歡看描寫納粹高層的電影，他們可以很像邪教不斷地靠黨徽置入行銷(動不動就搞大垂幕)，也可以像個武士鐵血忠貞情操(見帝國毀滅)，或是像個執著的藝術家/音樂家對餐具細節的講究，建築的雄偉，軍服的嚴謹；這些都是藏在惡魔般魯格手槍後面令人惋惜的高貴。
在著了迷的了解那些蓋世太保，黨衛軍，正規軍、衝鋒隊或是希特勒青年軍等不同程度的殺人機器之後，那些歷史上的希特勒/戈培爾/戈林/希姆勒等頭子充其量不過是回歸人性底層的發條橘子耍壞男孩而已
最後還是幫忙平反:納粹只是個政黨，不等同德國
Where these people were looking was two sets of newspaper clippings; one set was the clippings made for the film "A Clockwork Orange," when Alex is freed after the "success" of the Ludovico Technique treatment; and the second set were real clippings that reported on copycat crimes that were allegedly inspired by the film. The crimes had increased so much that many doctors and clergy in the UK were calling for reforms and wanted the film pulled from circulation. It wasn't until a series of death threats made against Stanley Kubrick and his family that Kubrick finally gave in and insisted Warner Bros. to take the film out of British theaters. It was not seen in England (except for badly dubbed videocassettes) for over 25 years, a year or so after Kubrick's death in 1999.
