14th March 2016 - The sun sets over the Seaforth Dock and ACL's new G4 ConRo vessel the 'Atlantic Star'.
The Atlantic Coast Line era signal bridge at North Smithfield managed to evade replacement when the ACL-era signals on the line were replaced over the past two decades. Although it has modern three-light signal heads on it, the ACL bridge design stands out amid the sea of aluminum cantilevers elsewhere on the line. Photographing this one in sun is a tricky affair as the tracks run southwest-to-northeast here, so it only really works during summer mornings. Although this was a going away shot, it worked out nicely that they were on the right-hand main here. The train is C31316, headed south toward Florence with another load of coal for the Carolina power plants.
M202 makes there way south down the Thomasville Sub crossing an old bridge still marked for the ACL.
For my morning constitutional, I headed down to the river to take pictures of the railroad bridge, my solitude broken only by a lone kayaker and a bunch of kids who, based on their woohoos, had reached one of the milestones of their river pilgrimage.
CSX local job A727-26 utilizes the ACL Outbound ducking underneath NS's Inman Yard and Marietta Street on their way south down the old AB&C towards Union City.

This 1962 photo, looking west along First Avenue South from Bayshore Drive, shows an EMD diesel electric switcher locomotive in use at the St. Petersburg ACL depot. The switcher brought the Champion down to the station, and is now waiting to move the train that arrived earlier in the morning back to the railroad yard after the Champion departs. Spur of the moment decision to attend ACL 2021. Skip Marley did not disappoint. Also enjoyed Machine Gun Kelly, Erykah Badu, Megan Thee Stallion, Finius, and Miley Cyrus closed out the night.
Austin City Limits Music Festival 2013. After 11 years ACL Fest went to 2 weekends. Again, 65,000 music fans a day rolled into Zilker Park for music, sun and fun.
