It is never too early to discover ways to advocate for the AAPI community – which is why our Program Team was thrilled to put together a workshop for the 7th graders at MS 839 in Brooklyn in celebration of #AAPIHeritageMonth.

It was particularly wonderful to connect once again with school counselor and former ASAP coordinator Liz Lee.

The in-depth session covered the diversity and strength of NYC’s AAPI communities, the importance of promoting data disaggregation so that all of our community members are seen, and why teachers, parents, and students all should advocate for schools where all kids and teens feel safe, supported, and valued.

It was so wonderful to celebrate #AAPIHeritageMonth at Governor Kathy Hochul’s AAPI Reception on Tuesday!

As a co-leader of the Equity Budget Coalition, we were particularly grateful to Governor Hochul for highlighting the transformative impact of the #AAPIEquityBudget in her remarks. This historic $30 million investment in New York State’s AAPI communities will provide critical funding to community-informed, culturally relevant, and language-accessible programs meeting the rising needs of AAPI New Yorkers.
