Lac de Montriond is located in the commune of Montriond in the French Chablais region of Haute-Savoie. The lake is popular with anglers and, above all, with walkers and hikers.
Lake Montriond was created when part of the Nantaux mountain to the north-west collapsed. This geological event, which has not been dated with any certainty (between 4,500 years and 3 or 4 centuries!), caused a dam to form on the torrent that ran along the bottom of the valley, hence the formation of the lake.
Many viewers have commented that The Guardian Building (originally The Union Trust Company Building) reminded them of a church.
This picture shows approximately half of the bank lobby on the main floor. Imagine the original bank building with 60-90 bank teller cages lining the entire length of both sides of this "nave". The ceiling was composed of a 3/4 inch (1.9cm) of horsehair and coated with a layer of plaster cement. Then, a canvas layer was applied, and painted with designs reminiscent of the patterns of Navajo rugs. This was a sound-deadening system.
The "altar piece" ( I suppose) was the three-story mural of the map of the lower peninsula of Michigan. Highlighted were the major Michigan moneymakers of the1890s to 1920s: mining, manufacturing, lumber, fishing, commerce, and agriculture. It was completed in 1929, unfortunately the year of the beginning of "The Great Depression".
This superbly decorated Art-Deco bank building was nicknamed "The Cathedral of Finance." So, if the earlier pictures reminded you of a church (reprised in the first comment below) --you were very observant : -)
One of Scunthorpe’s most prominent skylines, the blast furnaces on the steelworks. Named the four queens left to right Mary, Bess, Anne and Vic. 600mm zoom, I was a 3.7 miles away at the next village

Cresting a hill near Whitewood, a 3-pack of 40s are on the head end of the Belle Job. To make matters better, the lead engine was a heck of a smoker on even the slightest hill. This chase allowed for great pictures in an area that most railfans don’t ever go to.
Bernese Oberland, Switzerland
The Eiger is a 3,967-meter (13,015 ft) mountain of the Bernese Alps, overlooking Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen in the Bernese Oberland of Switzerland, just north of the main watershed and border with Valais.
Respect for all the climbers who dare to do such a thing! My desire is much greater than my abilities...

This is a 3 image pano that Lightroom refused to assist with, so I stitched it together manually in PS
