It's a funny fruit stand in the middle of a shopping center in Sunnyvale. If anyone knows the story behind it, would love to hear it.
DHSS Secretary Rita Landgraf and Insurance Commission Karen Weldin Stewart, joined by Rep. John Carney, kicked off Delaware’s health insurance marketplace with an event Sept. 3 at the Latin American Community Center. Representatives of the four marketplace guide organizations in the state, a representative from Mayor Williams’ office and Maria Matos, president & CEO of the LACC also spoke. But the event was highlighted by the words of Gia Cotman, a marketplace guide for Brandywine Women’s Health Associates, who lost her health insurance in 2011 after she lost her job. “I was unemployed and uninsured,” she said. What she hopes to convey to Delawareans without insurance is that she understands their situation, and that the marketplace is an affordable way to get access to health insurance and quality care.
Enrollment in Delaware’s marketplace begins Oct. 1. For those who enroll by Dec. 15, coverage will begin Jan. 1, 2014. Delaware expects to enroll as many as 35,000 people – many of whom will be eligible for subsidies to reduce their overall costs. Said Rep. Carney, “If there’s any place in the country where we can make this work, it’s here in Delaware.” For more information, go to www.ChooseHealthDE.com. Said Secretary Landgraf, “For all Delawareans the meaning is clear: Affordable coverage for uninsured Delawareans means a healthier Delaware for all.”

Whatever the shrine we were at - there was a marketplace. Kinda like a Japanese version of Olivera Street in Downtown Los Angeles, but bigger and...well, Japanese.
