For weeks after the Towers fell, there were funerals at the church around the corner from my home. This one was for a fellow Fireman.

As the quarry developed it encompass 14 underground levels, numbered from the top downwards, with a total of 170 chambers from which the slate was won.

I have had this image on my hard drive for some time now.. I created it on Memorial day while visiting our local cemetery.. I was standing there just kind of contemplating things and I noticed this young man from afar off.. I could tell he was grieving.. I know grieving..I also noticed he was in the children's part of the cemetery.. I think he might have lost a little loved one.. I could not help but seize this moment.. I also did not know when or if I should post this one.. but I felt for some reason the 9th anniversary of 9/11 might be an appropriate time..
Let us never forget the 3,000+ souls that were lost on that frightful day 9 years ago.. I know I will never forget it.. not ever..
May we honor them and pray for their families on this day.. I am sure some still grieve for their loved ones..and grieving can leave an awful void in ones heart..

BNSF received a group of C44-9Ws without thir H2 yellow striping lettering back in the late-90s. Traffic was heavy, motive power was tight and they needed the horsepower in a hurry.
A soon to be yellowed Dash 9 works out of the Westmister tunnel with HPASGAL back on November 1, 1998. Consist on this Pasco to Galesburg was BNSF 4814, 4702, NREX 9323, and BN 8162. Was quite the variety along the Class Is in the late-90s.
