Edited GOES West image showing the eastern Pacific Ocean. Hurricane Ana is just south of the Hawaiian Islands. The huge mass of clouds and cold air is easily visible coming from the Arctic Ocean via the Bering Strait. I highlighted Hurricane Ana in red and the clouds from the Arctic in blue. (In the past I would have used Flickr's annotation function but that seems to be no more than a fond memory now.)

I finally managed to max out on Buzz Lightyear today! To be honest it only took me two attempts after reading up on the sweet spots.
The Neil Howard stages are fast becoming an autumn tradition at Oulton with some very interesting entries to jog memories, and very enthusiastically driiven , with a great atmosphere when darkness descends over the Cheshire countryside and the cars' lights pierce the darkness.
A great day's motorsport, with myself and mrs snowman breaking off from the spectating to thoroughly enjoy ourselves driving a GT86 on Oulton's rally school stages, and the day was rounded off by a bonfire and an excellent fireworks display.

The Sleight Of Mind Set Workshops
What Materials Do You Get?
Book Your Place
Hi,
Following on from the success of 2012, we are excited to be holding another set of Sleight of Mind Set workshops in the next few months. The Sleight of Mind Set Workshops are one day workshops all about learning, understanding and applying Mind Magic (Mentalism) and Psychological Artistry to what you do.
As well as learning the effects, you can also learn valuable lessons from mind magic about how we think, act and behave. Mind Magic, as well as being entertaining and fascinating, can also be used to illustrate and understand human nature and our psychology. Using Psychological Artistry in your delivery adds both the spice of excitement and taps into this enduring popularity of magic and psychology.
The Sleight of Mind Set Workshop is about you tapping into the enduring popularity of magic and mystery by combining the ingenuity shown by Derren Brown and Dynamo with the popularity and interest evidenced by Amazon's "Most Popular Tags". For more information on this, see www.mindsways.com/SMS
Psychological Artistry - Perspective and Insight
A fascinating example of perspective and insight is shown in a classic Fred Astaire clip, click here to see it. Perspectives determine how we:
View and interpret our experiences
Make decisions
Filter our insights
Govern our assumptions
Act and behave
It is this unseen primary influence that magicians know and understand and use very well.
Interesting examples of how all is not as it appears are the McGurk effect and Prof Richard Wiseman's "The Incredible Colour Changing Card Effect". Please take a look here or go to mindsways.com/SMS. I would love to know what you think. These illustrate both the power and the approach of Psychological Artistry.
The Sleight of Mind Set Workshops
They start at 10:00 a.m. and finish at 4:30 p.m. These are being held around the country, in:
London | 20th February 2013
Glasgow | 5th March 2013
Birmingham | 12th March 2013
Bath | 20th March 2013
Nr. Scunthorpe | 29th March 2013
The style of the day reflects the term "Edutrainment", with it being an immersive blend of entertainment, education and training. When you use Mind Magic and Psychological Artistry, you are tapping into;
Passion, fascination and curiosity
Mystery
The appeal of the new and the novel
People's crystallised and fluid knowledge
Cognitive fitness training
Over the past two years, hundreds of people have found the benefits of including Mind Magic and Psychological Artistry in what they do. To see what people have said about this, click here.
The aim of the day is to;
Teach you the mind magic effects
Stimulate thought
Stimulate reflection

Panama motorists get the same number on their license plates each year and the numbers go consecutive and old numbers are not recycled. Once 999999 was reached a two letter prefix was used. The lower the serial number the older the vehicle.
You know The Birds? It's a short story made into a movie by Alfred Hitchcock. Birds take over, and become homicidal. This is a story in pictures like that, except fr the homicide. Pelicans don't seem interested in that, though they do appear to have crowded out the gulls. No easy feat. This first shot was taken over breakfast at Moby Dick on the wharf in Santa Barbara, looking toward the harbor. Later we saw that the trend in population grown has been traced by Edhat.

I was looking through my old pictures and thought this one looked cool. In GM vehicles (VPW speaking, at least), the various computer modules (the dashboard, the ECU/PCM, the BCM, the ABS controller, and sometimes the airbag module) all speak on the same bus used for OBDII diagnostics, so with an appropriate interface, I can tell the modules to do the various things I've figured out how to do.
I was perfectly fine with finishing up the beautiful day here on the Jersey Shore with the two or three bottles of Shiner Bock left in the refrigerator.
In a strange twist of fate (more about that later), A&M College of Texas Ring ’42 who rarely says much of anything, all of a sudden spoke out and told me and Aggie Ring ’84, “If you know what’s good for the two of you, you’ll take me up to the liquor store and buy me some Maker’s.
Well, if you know anything about Aggie Rings, they are not ones to be trifled with, so off to the liquor store my two Aggie Ring(s) and I went.
When we got home, little “Drinkin’ Bear” was happy to see us for some reason I don’t understand. He said, “God bless us, every one of us.” when he saw the big bottle of Maker’s.
The big question is, if A&M College of Texas Ring ’42 has me open that bottle of delicious Maker’s Mark, which is probably a 99.999999% certainty, which instrument will be played first—the trumpet or the tambourine?
Seeing as how we managed to snag the trumpet sheet music to “Louie Louie” not long ago, I’m going with the trumpet, although I gather, it’s possible to play them both simultaneously. If I only had a cowbell, I’d have every musical instrument that the Aggie Ring(s) and I could possibly need. I suppose I should throw in Army Piano downstairs as well. That piano got Aggie Ring ’84 and I through most of our Regular Army career and there is always sheet music of a certain “hymn” on the piano stand that both of the Aggie Rings love for me to “play.”
“Holy Mother of Baby Jesus on a Donkey!” I called out to both of the Aggie Ring(s). “Where the hell did my Carmex get to? My lips are going to need it tonight.”

Hi,
For over twenty five years I have seen how magic can add value to delivery. There are a huge collection of secret techniques out there, many of them psychological, that engages and attracts people. The Sleight of Mind Set workshops are one day workshops all about how you can tap into this rich stream of ideas and Mind Magic's enduring popularity. The day looks at two paths running together; one learning the tricks and effects, the other learning about why and how they add value to us.
They are being held around the country, in:
Neuromagic & the Tricks of the Mind
Applied Advantage
Tapping Into Popularity
Theatre of the Mind
Examples of Psychological Artistry

NEUROMAGIC AND THE TRICKS OF THE MIND
As a psychologist and Psychological Artist, I have been fascinated by how the principles used in magic and mind magic in particular can reveal so much about our human nature and behaviour. Now, neuromagic as well as psychology is learning from Mind Magic.
Neuromagic is brand new field of neuroscience that is being used to understand how magic, affects and changes how we see the world. This in turn informs how we think and what we believe about ourselves and others. For just one example of how magic is being used with neuroscience to study change blindness, go to mindsways.com/SMS#Neuromagic
As is often pointed out in portrayals of Sherlock Holmes; "we see but do not observe". Our cognitive biases constantly distort and filter how we think. We are always under the control of stereotyping, confirmational bias, default effects and much more, basically as magicians know; "we cannot believe what we see but we see what we believe"
The good news is that we do not need to be at the mercy of these thinking fallacies. As neuroscience shows us: we can change. Some go as far as to say that we actually have infinite plasticity, in other words, there is no limit to how much we can change ourselves or how we think.
The Sleight of Mind Set workshops use the principle that "all is not as it appears" to be able to illustrate this and how we see the world. This in turn affects how we act, think and behave, just as neuromagic shows us. The SNT kit has the tools built within it to help us change by making use of the infinite plasticity we all have and to do so with entertaining and enlightening ways. You get your own SNT kit to take away with you on the day. To see more, please go to mindsways.com/SMS/
APPLIED ADVANTAGE
A theme of the day is how you can use these ideas and techniques to add practical value to your delivery through:
Using MMI's (Multiple Moments of Interest, Interaction & Insight)
Connecting emotionally and being relevant (emotional triggers)
Being memorable (giving people something novel to talk about)
Creating attraction (and making you stand out)
Increasing your delivery vocabulary
Bridging the innovation gap
Personal Touch delivery
For more information on the themes of the day, please see mindsways.com/SMS/
TAPPING INTO THE POPULARITY
Mind Magic holds an enduring allure and popularity by bringing together entertainment, mystery and the paranormal. Magic is never far out of the popular sphere with Derren Brown currently filling theatres across the country with his 'Infamous' tour and drawing large TV audiences.
This is also shown by the new blockbuster film; Now You See Me. The film is based on the premise of what if magic were real. Starring Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Mark Ruffalo, Jesse Eisenberg and Isla Fisher, the film shows the hold that magic has over our imagination. To see more about the film, please go to mindsways.com/SMS/#NowYouSeeMe.
Our aim is to make day informative, entertaining and practical for you. People have attended for many reasons including:
Curiosity
Learning something new
Interest in how the mind works
Adding variety to enliven their presentations
New and different approaches
Adding to their business practices
An increased reputation
A channel for their passion and fascination
Wider perspectives and experiences
The real power of Mind Magic and Psychological Artistry lies not with just the tricks, but the effect that the delivery of the tricks have on people. By doing this, you are tapping into the emotions of mystery combined with the power of the Personal Touch.
On the workshops and in the SNT kit, we give you the tricks, however, learning to use them with what you do is where the real power lies. This is when the real magic happens, in the theatre of the minds. For more on this, please go to mindsways.com/SMS/
THEATRE OF THE MIND
On the workshop we uncover tricks, look at making a trick into an effect and making the effect into a piece that works for you. The three levels we work on are:
Effect of a trick - "how did you do that?"
Analysis of a trick - "why does this trick work? Why did the effect happen?"
Practicality of a trick - "how you can use the tricks for myself?"
This involves using a combination of Psychology, Neuroscience, Smart Thinking and the ideas, tools and techniques from Mind Magic. For more on this, please see mindsways.com/SMS/
EXAMPLES OF PSYCHOLOGICAL ARTISTRY
A couple of interesting examples of how all is not as it appears are the McGurk effect and Prof Richard Wiseman's "The Incredible Colour Changing Card Effect". Please take a look here or visit mindsways.com/SMS#PsychologicalArtistry. I would love to know what you think. These illustrate both the power and the approach of Psychological Artistry.

The events have been attended and proved to be relevant to people from a wide range of backgrounds including entrepreneurs, business consultants, health professionals, coaches of life, performance and sports, therapists, hypnotherapists, trainers etc.

Hi,
For over twenty five years I have seen how magic can add value to delivery.

Register Your Place
For more information on the day, please see www.mindsways.com/SMS/ and for a brochure of what the day is about, please look at www.mindsways.com/SMS/.
Over the past 18 Months I have been running these Sleight of Mind Set Workshops throughout the country, and I am really pleased with the feedback, it has been tremendous, please don't just take my word for it, (I am after all biased) please see what people have said by going to www.mindsways.com/what-people-say/
For over twenty five years I have seen how magic can add value to delivery. There are a lot of unknown techniques out there, many of them psychological, that engages and attracts people. The Sleight of Mind Set workshop is all about how you can tap into this rich stream of ideas and "Mind Magic's" enduring popularity. The day looks at two paths running together, one learning the tricks and effects, the other why and how they add value to us.
They start at 10:00 a.m. and finish at 4:30 p.m. For more information about the workshops, please got to www.mindsways.com/SMS/
THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX - OR CLINGING TO THE LID
Many people claim that the answers to creativity, standing out from the crowd and finding solutions to problems is thinking outside the box. Although, I see many people who cling ferociously on to the lid. Psychological Artistry and Mind Magic, as well as the tools and techniques contained within them are definitely off the lid. For more, see the Sleight Of Mind Set page at www.mindsways.com/SMS/Explaining what you can achieve with these tools is wonderful. For me, I find it deeply rewarding when I see and the results that have been created using these tools and techniques. Don't just take my word for it, see What People Say About Us at www.mindsways.com/what-people-say/.
The Sleight Of Mind Set day is not just about learning the Mind Magic tricks, (these are quick to learn, but create much to be thought about) what makes it thrilling is what you can build with them for yourself. You can build pieces into your delivery, making this very personal to you. You can take these pieces and use them to ignite a powerful response in others, engaging and involving them in your ideas and what you do. Our focus is around Showing Not Telling which is about illuminating and animating your ideas and concepts. This contributes greatly to leaving people delighted, energized, interested and wanting more.
To find out more about Mind Magic and its uses, please go to www.mindsways.com/SMS/
THE POWER OF PSYCHOLOGICAL ARTISTRY
The approach we take is what we call Psychological Artistry and this involves using a blend of psychology, mind magic (or mentalism), personal development and smart thinking ideas. By tapping into people's imagination, curiosity and desire for mystery we can engage people in all different areas. By adding in psychological approaches, this is strengthened. I appreciate that by its very nature, it is not a traditional approach but that is where its power lies.
Psychological Artistry is about blending the world of art and psychology. It's about showing the beautiful flaws in our thinking and how we can use them. It's about magnifying how we all think and giving you the opportunity to change it.
A couple of interesting examples the McGurk effect and Prof Richard Wiseman's "The Incredible Colour Changing Card Effect". Please see www.mindsways.com/SMS for these and other incredible videos. I would love to know what you think. These illustrate both the power and the approach of psychological artistry.
STANDING OUT FROM THE CROWD - CREATING YOUR DIFFERENCE
This learning works on a number of levels. On the workshops, we look at what Mind Magic reveals about how we think, act and behave. This allows us to understand the environment we're in.
Whilst doing this, we're also tapping into the fact that performing and illustrating illusions holds a deep fascination for people. This is what allows us to stand out from the crowd. Below are a few quotes of what people have said about the workshop:
"A truly inspiring experience is how I'd best describe the Sleight of Mind Set workshop."
"I came away with lots of ideas to create drama and interest in my training delivery."
"The whole group laughed many times and were absolutely fascinated by each technique."
BEING DIFFERENT - NO, REALLY DIFFERENT
This programme is good for anyone looking for something different and to stimulate new styles of thinking. The feedback has definitely been that it has satisfied the thirst for new ideas whilst ticking all of the edutrainment boxes. This programme is for you if you are interested in any of the following:
Human Behaviour & Psychology
Influence & Persuasion
How We Think
Magic & Magicians
New Experiences
Learning & Teaching
Framing Your Ideas
The day is all about
Exploring the art of possibility
Stimulating creativity and innovation
Transforming personal and professional life
Tapping into your imagination
On the personal development level, it is about transforming
Self esteem
Self confidence
Self awareness
Self motivation
for yourself and others. Overall it acts a catalyst for your future development.
It is intended for people who are curious, want to improve how they connect, express and communicate with others. Overall, it is about adding new skills to you and being able to apply the techniques and ideas from Psychological Artistry and Mind Magic to maximise what you do.
MindSways sessions are based on a unique blend of magic, science, psychological artistry, design and smart thinking. All of this allows you to work with individuals, groups and organisations in an original and dynamic way. It also means that by being trained in these psychological subtleties and powerful techniques, you can add a unique twist to your activities.
Our success in life depends critically on two things; our capacity for insight into our own mental world and that of other people. One of the benefits of learning and applying Mind Magic and psychological artistry is that it puts our thinking habits and styles back on our radar. This is only one aspect of the many benefits that people find when they have worked with us over the past few months. For what others have said please take a look at www.mindsways.com/what-people-say/

For those wishing to identify the cars the entry list for the rally can be found here www.rallies.info/res.php?e=196&o=p&t=999&r=e&... and the results here www.rallies.info/res.php?e=196&o=p&t=999&r=o&...
