First Glasgow chose Saturday 6 June 1998 as the day to commemorate the end of Leyland Atlantean operation in the city. It was also nearly 40 years since the first LA1 entered service in December 1958 so a special service was run over the original route the 4 between Drumyone and Balornock using some surviving and last Leyland Atlanteans still in service.

LA1 made a rare appearance on the city's streets for the occasion and is seen here at the Balornock terminus on Syriam Street before making its return journey to Drumoyne.
