I've been eyeing a trek into this Yosemite basin for a few years as there are no big mountain ridges to the west that would impede sunset light in the heart of summer. With moderate thunderstorm potential forecasted for this week and the prospect of good light, I made time to go. Not a soul in sight on this evening. No mosquitoes as well. Yosemite at it's best.

Well known around the marina, Fred might be getting a bit long in the beak...but Great Blue Herons have quite a long life expectancy, 15 years or more.

NS 9820 leads train 36T across the Portage Bridge in Lecthworth Park on December 2, 2017. After 36T had passed, the DS gave the MOW the track until 5pm, so I called it a day after one train. Time is running out to catch trains on the old bridge.

In an unusual move, CPKC 133 is returning from the Port of Montreal light power on Tuesday morning with CP 8757 leading and CP 9820 trailing. Normally CPKC 133 runs light power to the port and returns with intermodal traffic. Presumably there was last second issues with the cars they were supposed to lift.
