世界遺產「合掌村」分布在岐阜縣大野郡白川村(白川鄉)，富山縣東礪波郡平村與上平村(五箇山)。目前白川鄉內共有5座合掌村落，其中荻町的規模最大也最有名，至今完整保留113棟合掌造。荻町在觀光方面最充実，有超過20間民宿及旅館、約50家特產店、餐廳、重要文化遺產和田家、明善寺鄉土館、生活資料館等是欣賞合掌村的最佳景點。
