Canons Ashby, Northamptonshire. Set in a remote part of the East Midlands countryside (nearest town Daventry) is Canons Ashby, a former farmhouse, adapted and extended in the C15th, with further modifications until 1710, since when the house has remained largely unchanged. It was lived in by the Dryden Family until WW2, then a succession of tenants, until 1981 when the house, in very poor condition, with parts close to collapse, was acquired and restored by the National Trust. Listed grade 1.
