First test photos of a new modifier that I have never used before, a Freznel lens graciously gifted to us by a great friend here on Flickr.
A few years ago I came across a photo by a talented boudoir photographer asking for feedback on a photo he posted. Not something I normally do, the whole critique type thing but decided to give my subjective opinion.
I had no idea just how quickly he and I would hit it off and communicate on a daily basis, first via Flickr mail, then IM, and now video calls several times a week. We have moved on from talking just photography to all things in life, he has supported us through some challenging times recently.
A few months ago he decided to buy a couple of used Profoto flash packs for his studio but unfortunately they had electronic issues. I work in electronics and was able to assist via video calls to get these packs working again. What I didn't realize at the time was the profound impact on him by our interaction, I was told that he was transported back to happy times with his father, tinkering and learning new skills, the kind of thing lost in this modern world.
As a very generous display of his appreciation, I received a Nanlight Freznel.
