Revuelos al atardecer.

The very sweet Golden-headed Cisticola.

Golden-headed refers only to the summer breeding plumage of the male - in winter he adopts a streaked crown and then closely resembles a female.

Their call is distinctive and fortunately they like to perch up high grass stems providing some great photo opportunities if you are quick enough. This was taken quite a few months back at my local wetland when I had the best session I have ever had with these little birds.

I think because they were building nests, they were busy worrying about gathering nesting material than they were about a lady with a camera amongst the grass.

I was quite happy to find that when I came down the stairs in the morning, Shelley was on the bottom step, and instead of running off, she considered trying to rub against my ankles, and then (more prudently) jumped up here where I couldn't miss her. She happily accepted pets, purred, gave me a kitty kiss... and then posed nicely for a photo. That's a good hotel hospitality cat! (She must be about 15 years old now, and has been a Sylvia Beach Hotel hospitality cat almost every day of her life.)

And isn't it handy that the Happy Caturday theme for 10 August 2019 is "Charming"? I mean, my cats certainly know how to charm me, but (1) usually that doesn't coexist well with a camera and (2) they aren't professionals like Shelley.
