This, my latest acquisition, a circa 1929 tool box. I wanted something to use as a display prop for some of my still life photos, I saw this and I was so consumed by its absolute beauty I had have it. I feel fortunate that this piece was not snatched up by someone else who has a fondness for weathered and patinated objects. It is beautiful from every angle.

Think of the history this box has seen! I'm thrilled to have it in my collection. Instead of simply using it as a prop, I thought it deserved to be seen as a featured piece by its own right.

Pepper has a quiet laying down face-off with another cat (who looked over briefly at me when I called hello kitty kitty.) The face-off seemed to be detente. At one point they moved from here to another part of the yard (I didn't see the move) and Pepper eventually turned so his back was facing other cat which is pretty polite. Some of the neighbors set off some firecrackers, which may be when they split up.

Thanks to Nextdoor app and web site, I now know this new cat is named Brownie, is the cat of a 7-year-old girl in a house that is close "as the cat flies", the straight line being behind mine, across a quiet street and over one or two houses.Brownie is "so friendly he can be pesty" (says his owner and another nearby neighbor). He has an older sister cat who is aloof. Maybe he and Pepper are forming a support group. I haven't seen Brownie since.

Bon repas fruité.

Back Garden - with the gradually diminishing number of berries, they are being forced to come closer to the patio.
