Skills everywhere! A trip to town in February for the launch of the new Bridgford electrics ended up having a different start to what we first imagined because there on Derby Road near the Savoy cinema was a whole army of Skills double deckers! Obviously this required investigating so we jumped off the 36 to see what the mega line-up was about.
It turned out they were taking Uni of Nottingham students to some horse racing event, which was clearly extremely popular as there were about ten deckers dispatched to ferry everyone; they’d begun to depart before we even got there as a couple of the Presidents had passed by while we were on the 36.
Derby Road almost became part of Edinburgh with the amount of ex-Lothian traction present, with the MMC being the only thing that wasn’t. Here the line is headed by President Trident SIL 9126, and is partly broken up by Nottingham City Transport 453 with an outbound 35. I’m not sure why the ‘claw mark’ graphics on the lead vehicle aren’t as bright as the ones on the rest.
