My local patch of woodland comes alive this time of year, with hidden bluebells springing up seemingly out of nowhere. But in amongst them are a couple of little genetic mutations that cause them to produce white flowers which I think are just as stunning.
Capturing this also tied in nicely with @photography.daily.podcast weekly assignment set by @seantuck to photograph the details I notice that others might miss. And I do wonder how many people walk through these woods without even noticing these amongst the swathes of blue.
When it seems like the world is falling apart all around you and people are demanding action, sometimes the best thing you can do is go fishing.

This is pretty much the original exposure I took to capture the sky. I cropped for a better fit and look.
The hills are formed largely from the Ordovician age (485 to 444 million years ago) marine mudstones and siltstones of the Penmaen Dewi Shales and Aber Mawr Shale formations which have been intruded by microgabbro (otherwise known as dolerite or diabase) of Ordovician age. The former slate quarries at Rosebush on the southern edge of the hills worked the Aber Mawr Formation rocks whilst it is the dolerite tors of Carn Menyn which have been postulated, amongst other localities, as the source of the Stonehenge ‘bluestones'.
